Hi monkeys!

just finished my Discogs Auto-tag Web Script for MM3.

Still a little buggy (like detagging all songs after checking additional songs than what is auto-suggested), but I post here for support.

I reformated the output of Discogs, put deleted their google ads (bad, I know). I don't have time for better re-formating.

A good start to go deeper.

Enjoy!

This looks interesting. I had started on something similar, but ran out of brain cells :-? so put it on the back burner. I'm looking forward to trying it out soon.

I notice that you didn't include the API key that Discogs requires. This means users will have to apply for and get their own. No big deal since it's no charge - but I thought I'd mention for others who want to try this out. Get the key at http://www.discogs.com/help/api

So does this go in the Scripts/Auto folder? I realize I need to edit the scripts.ini file to make this work but you didn't specify where to install this. Also, not including an API key is going to confuse a lot of people. An installer for this sort of script would be nice, especially if you don't include detailed installation instructions for n00bs like me. ;)

not sure you qualify for "n00b status anymore...

it looks like the file should go in Scripts folder, with related entries in the Scripts.ini file as noted at the beginning of the script. and yeah - an installer would be good. During installation, it could prompt for the user's api key, then remember it for future use.

Thanks, one. Can't wait to try this out! Discogs is my number-1 used site in Right Click for Web. It will be nice having it for a tagging method since most of my dance music doesn't have cover art on Amazon (if it's even there at all). :D

Your idea about the API key prompt is a good... one. ;)

Thanks for this script!

No Selection Boxes?

Just loaded this up and it looks great! Only one problem, so far: there are no selection boxes for items in the results window. For example, if I only want to tag tracks with album art, I see no way to select only album art, or deselect anything else. Am I missing something?

that's a Web-Tag script!

For the last part.... yep, I know, that's probably the origin of one major bug on selection of results: "de-tagging all" !

But I don't know how to include the checkbox in the result window.
I should change from web browser to panel UI.

But i don't have time for that.
:-(

I'm using it every day, I'll update it if needed.

How do you use it? I'm pretty methodical about my tagging and I really don't want to tag track titles, etc. when I don't need to. I want to be able to specify which items to tag and which not to tag. If there's no way to select items, I'm afraid the script is fairly useless to me.

Please excuse my ignorance as I may have been looking with my eyes closed but where do I go within MM3 to utilize this great script. I've registered and obtained the API key yet I can't find where or how to use.

Cheers and yes I'm a relative n00b exuding n00biness :) - here for your entertainment

I think this last version is not so bad.
For improvements I would need to have access to the smartTracks Class.

Waiting for some comments.

So this is still an all-or-nothing thing? You have to tag everything even if you don't want to? Oh, well, I was really hoping you could work out the check box thing for each section (Art, Tracks, Label, Date, etc.). I already have a lookup for Discogs. I don't need an all-or-nothing tagger script. Thanks for trying though. I'll keep rootin' for ya to figure it out! ;)
