Annoyance when deleting all text in any Person node

When browsing any person node and you find stuff you want to correct or delete. I usually press F2, fix the text and press Enter. (That makes the entry to be updated on all affected tracks.) The focus remains on the node you corrected. However when you clear the node by F2, Delete, Enter all tracks are correctly updated but the focus gets lost since the node doesn't exist any more. Very annoying, it would be nice if the next node could get the focus instead.

I also often get "Access violation" when deleting all text in a person node. (Debug sent several times.)

I think that would be poor. I want the focus on the node now containing the tracks, and the tracklist to retain the selection.

That node in your case is Unknown, and in the similar case of http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... bum+artist it is the node corresponding to the new field value.

No chrissj, when deleting the text in the node, the only sane option is to move to the next node in the tree.

Retaining the selection? No, if a node is in focus then of course all tracks of that node must be added to the main window.

Your edit changed the tracks to Unknown - why does going to Unknown make less sense than going to some other node?

I think when editing it always makes more sense to preserve - not least so the user can continue to edit the tracks. It is a real PITA for an edit to move objects you're editing out from under you.

1. Not some other node. The next node in line. If I'm editing nodes I'm not interested in being moved back and/or forth in the tree. I want to stay where I am. Just as I am when I only edit the text.

2. That's true but to not adding all tracks to the main window when a node is selected would be worse. I often use my Last100 script to easy go to tracks recently modified. An autoplaylist could be used too.

Ah, sorry now I understand! Agreed - both cases call for MM to maintain the edit position, but the result is different in each.

Will be fixed in next release (AV error and selection positioning after delete artist).
