Artist not appearing [FIXED in 1212]

Can anyone explain to me why I have an artist in my library node which is not appearing under the artist list in the synch options? I'm using the latest 1208 beta version, so maybe it's an issue with that version, I don't know.

Looks strange. And there are more missing, e.g. Goldfrapp, GoldFinger, etc.. Can you check if they have something in common?
Are they accesible?
Have they been synched before?

I've checked in the database and couldn't see anything different, but you're right there are others, this is just the one that I'm trying to sync!
It hasn't been synched before but they are definitely available. And I switched off the filter in case it was that, but it should appear in the same filter as the others anyway because I've not set up any, I just use the standard "Music" one.

I've actually never synched so I'm out of the league here. But can you try with 3.0.6 to see if this is a regression issue?

Heh, I'm seeing sort of an opposite problem... I have two copies of most of the files in my library (all the ripped stuff, 1 copy in FLAC and 1 in MP3), they're in different directories altogether tho. So I created a simple filter to only show MP3/M3U files for when I'm synching to the iPod, but when I select that filter on the Auto-Sync window (under the Music tab) it doesn't seem to work correctly...
With the MP3 Filter enabled (to only show files of Type = MP3), I actually only see the directory that has MP3 files under the Location node, and I don't see the directory that has only FLAC files at all... But under the Album and Artist nodes, both the MP3 and FLAC files show up, which doesn't make sense.
The filter works correctly in the main Library view within MM, I dunno if I'm missing something obvious or if this is actually a bug... I guess I could probably get around this by using a file path filter instead but ehh, I just selected the albums I wanted to sync under the Location node for now. I haven't actually gone ahead with the sync (downloading an iPod update first, it's taking for-ever), I guess it's possible it might've only sync'd the MP3 files using the filter even tho it seemed to be selecting both the MP3 & FLAC files when I selected an album.

When the user activates a filter in the music tab, it doesn't actually
filter out tracks that don't match the filter. Rather, it excludes attributes from
the tree that never match the filter. e.g. if Filter=Rock Music, then
Artist=Brittney Spears might display even though most of her music is Pop.
Selecting Brittney Spears will select ALL of her music.
Hmm, I guess that
does explain it, even though it's rather confusing... The filters there should just work exactly like they do within the main interface. Anyway I guess you're right, the first part of the quote clearly states the Filters on the Music tab don't filter out tracks/files, altho I guess it does filter out directories/nodes that don't match the filter at all... Hence why I I don't see the FLAC dir when I enable my MP3 filter.
However selecting a sub-node within Artist/Album will still circumvent the Filter so to speak, that's the part that makes little sense imo. I suppose it's something of a personal thing, thanks for bringing up that article though...
Now I know it's not a bug, though I don't see a way around the quirk other than using the Location Node exclusively as I'm doing... Because even with a file path filter, I think when I select an Album it'll still select the FLAC files in my Library (in addition to the MP3 files)... Luckily I've got all the ripped albums in a pretty logical directory structure so it's not a huge deal.
They should change the way the filter behaves in that window, or add an option to exclude certain file types from being selected to sync to a device that can't play them (something similar already exists within the auto-conversion tab, but it's mutually exclusive I think and only used when enabling auto-conversion).
