1304 Quick search "Current selection" fails to accord...

.. with behaviour.
With "Current selection" ticked, quick search does not search the current selection in any case that I can see (except for all tracklist tracks selected)
E.g. where the current selection is in the track list, it searches tracks outside the selection regardless. Where the current selection is the Playlists node, it fails to search tracks in playlists.
It seems to me what it actually searches is the current tracklist contents, i.e. "Current tracks".
EDIT: Was 1209
EDIT: Tracked at

I think it's meant to search whatever is shown in the tracklisting, not what the user has selected/highlighted in the current tracklist. Does it fail the first scenario?

Then the description "current selection" is in error.

I think Current Selection is easier to understand then Current Tracks. And based where you're from what you refer to as selection would be highlighting instead.

Easy to understand does not make is accurate or useful.

Useful? I think understanding something is essential to being useful! But I'm sure that if a lot of users support your idea that the developers will consider changing it.

Although I never used that option, I agree that description is misleading.

Essential but not sufficient. If what you are understanding is inaccurate, as here, then you are being misled.

Understanding means that you understand what it does as it does for me.
You understand something different and thus made this request and already someone else voiced support for a change. That's the way the forum works, some will add a voice of support and some will not support it. In the end the developers get a better idea of what MediaMonkey users want to see in MediaMonkey.

Please do not misrepresent my report as a simple request for a change. It is a report of a defect.

I think "defect" is a little strong, it is simply text that you think could be reworded to be more representative. As with all language, there is room for interpretation. If it offends you so greatly you could of course create your own language pack and change it to whatever you want.
By the way, if it is a "defect" in your mind, why did you post it in the wishlist section?

I did not post it in the wishlist section.

Current Selection refers to what is selected in the Explorer Tree. As you're the only one who doesn't get this I think it should remain as it's current as Current Selection is much clearer than Current Tracks. Furthermore Tracks can't be used as MediaMonkey 4 includes videos which are not Tracks.

The term "Current selection" refers to the current selection. If the tracks pane is the current pane, then the current selection is the tracks selected there, and that's what should be searched. If the tree pane is the current pane, then the current selection is the node selected there, and that's what should be searched.
A term that accurately describe a search that works on the tree selection regardless of current selection is "Tree Selection".
Though it is sad to see how badly the tree-launched search works. E.g. see the Playlists example. My Computer C:\ fails likewise.

Both searching in Playlist and My Computer work perfectly fine here on MM4 1345.
There are 2 Current Selections. The highlighted tracks or the Tree selection. You're the only one with a problem with the latter as being used for Current Selections. Others seem to have no problem understanding this concept as implemented. With many people not knowing what the Tree is when it's referred to I would think that Tree Selection is less clear as a name for this than Current Selection.
