won't remember miniplayer position or column size

I couldn't be happier with MM, but there is one small thing that annoys me pretty consistently. For some reason, MM won't ever remember the previous position of my minplayer. For example: I am listening to MM and the miniplayer is located at the bottom center of the screen. If I close MM and then open it back up and then minimize to miniplayer, it goes to the default top center. I get tired of dragging the miniplayer to the same position every time I open MM.
Is there a setting that I am missing or is this a bug?
I am currently on the newest 3.1 beta 1236 but I experienced the same behavior when I was using 3.0.
Thanks for your help!

I'd like to add to this.
I am also constantly frustrated because MM will not remember the sizes of my columns in the viewer.
I have it on album art with details and I size my columns to the size I need. When I close it and then open it back up, it resets all of the sized columns and I have to redo it.
grrr....
Any ideas on why MM won't remember the miniplayer position or the column sizes?

It seems that the settings are saved on shutdown of MediaMonkey. This normally is due to MediaMonkey not shutting down properly (Check the Task Manager for remaining MediaMonkey.exe after shutting it down).
Upgrade to the latest version and try running with Program Files/MediaMonkey/Scripts folder renamed to anything else (ex. scriptsoff).

Thanks for your help.
Well it seems to be shutting down properly (there are no remaining mm.exe in task manager). So I don't think it is that.
This may be a dumb question, but is it possibly related to this other problem that I am having with the scripting host?

Don't know, I'm not technical enough for this, but it seems this issue is caused by MediaMonkey not saving the settings in the Registry. If MediaMonkey shuts down I don't know why it isn't happening. It could be that a security product/setting is preventing this.

I agree with you. It seems like a security/access setting. But I am not sure what folder to give a higher level of access to. And I'm not sure who to give that increased security to.
I have been playing around with the security settings and access permissions for "C:\Program Files (x86)\MediaMonkey. But I haven't been able to get it to work any better.
But then again, I don't really know what I am doing.
Can anyone offer advice?

I have this problem too; I understand what you mean about MM not saving settings properly, but it seems to remember everything else I change. (i.e, position of player and windows in main window, column size). Really baffles me.

Unfortunately I'm not an expert in the MediaMonkey settings. I believe these settings are saved in the registry and maybe deleting the corresponding keys (when MediaMonkey is closed) will solve the issue.
I'd advice to create a debug log as described in the Bug Report forum hoping that this will give the developers more insight as to why these particular settings aren't saved.

This is the key name, I think:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MediaMonkey\Interface\Forms\FloatPlayer

So should I delete this key? (Please excuse my ignorance)
Will this presumably fix the column size issue also?

Its worth a shot. No, the column settings are saved somewhere else in the registry. I think that its:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\MediaMonkey\Interface\ListViews\PlaylistFloating
but again, I'm not 100% sure on that.
As far as this thread goes:

I'm relatively certain that has nothing to do with what you're experiencing here, though if you're having permissions problems I guess that could be causing both that problem and this one (though if other settings are saved ok it doesn't really make sense).

I haven't noticed any other permission problems....... Hmmm....
Is there a certain folder that you can suggest I play with the permissions on? Is it "Program files (86)\MediaMonkey" or is it a different one.
I already have UAC disabled in Vista and I select MM to Run As Admin.
Thanks for your help.

I'm afraid I don't know.

That's ok. Thanks for your help.
I think it is an issue with 3.1. So perhaps I will just wait it out...... or downgrade to an earlier build. Hopefully the column size issue is fixed soon. it is not a big deal but rather annoying. The weird thing is that it remembers the "now playing window" column sizes, and the album art sizes, and the music explorer tree sizes, and the toolbar, and my overall layout. It remembers all of those things that I believe are stored in that registry setting. It just won't remember the column sizes in the main library viewer window. Grrr....
If I think this is related to beta 3.1. Is it inappropriate to post this bug in that forum also? Or is that frowned upon?
As far as the miniplayer bug, I'll probably submit a bug report for it. But I imagine they are already aware of it.
As far as the DCOM errors...... I figured it out. It was an access issue. I have a thread going in the 3.1 forum.

Thanks so much for your help. It is much appreciated.

The more I look into this, the more I believe it is an access permission problem with the registry. I tried modifying the permissions for the key mentioned here but it didn't seem to help.
I am just not familiar enough with MM registry keys to go in there and find the correct one and to apply a proper permission to keep this from happening.
Does anyone know this?
