Can't complete sync of Nano 5G [#6028]

I can't sync my ipod nano 5g. I'm running MM 3.1.2.1271 and I even tried the .dll that was posted on Oct. 1st. I pick the songs I want and start the sync. The sync bar goes all the way to the end (song 200 of 200) and then it just hangs there. I left the ipod connected for over an hour and about half way through I even raised the priority. I killed all other processes and the pc wasn't being used for anything else. It galloped away the entire time but the sync never finished. I finally killed the process and disconnected the ipod. There was no music on it at all. I tried restoring the ipod and it still does not work. I'm using an HP dv7 w/ dual core 2.1GHz processor, 4GB ram, running Vista Home Premium x64 SP2. I do have UAC turned off.

Anyone else out there w/ a nano 5g that's gotten it to work w/ MM with the same or similar builds and OS that can provide any suggestions?

I've seen the post on this topic, and I'm not sure if there's a formal debug log, i can't find it in MM, but i have had the same issue. The sync worked fine(twice) till near the end, then froze my comp, with the processor chugging away at 100%. After a manual reboot the space shows up on the ipod as used, but there are no songs. Itunes can't write to or delete from the nano now, I'm currently downloading the restore software, but the first guy said that didn't work for him, so I'm not too optimistic...

I'm running XP performance edition on a Dell Inspiron 1300 (antique, i know) with MM 3.1.2.1271

If you don't know how to provide a debug log, then get reading:

little oops on the previous post, it started out as an email to jiri in response to the request for a debug log, forgot to edit the start b4 i posted. Anyway:

just tried rebuilding the device database with MM, once it finished all the system files (about 1000) it started on the songs, but again when it got to the end of the songs (displaying something like 1400/1000) it froze again and generated crash messages, but I can't fill them out. The program seems to have drawn a limit at 5 crash message windows, but if I manage to close one another opens within a few seconds. they all flicker and wont let me click the do not send button or write anything in the window provided. I closed the group as it seems to be the only way to keep new messages from popping up. no idea what else to try now

I have gotten the debug window a couple of times when trying different things. Like mcthafa said, sometime multiples come up. I did manage to send a few in. I will try things again to see if I can get the window to come up. Most of the time when the sync gets to the end, I kill the process and I don't get the debug window.

Freeze during sync should be fixed in build 1273. Please confirm.

Thanks.

Rusty,

Actually I just installed 1283. Been a little busy this past month. BUT, the freezing during sync has stopped. I have a different problem now, though. I select 200 songs and click Sync Selected. Only 22 of the songs get added to my ipod. I can see the status bar at the bottom saying 1 of 200...2 of 200, etc but then it stops around 22 and that's all that's on the pod. I tried restoring it several times and it's always the same. No errors though!

I do want to let you know that I think you guys are doing an awesome job. I love MediaMonkey.

Hi fucial,

Thanks for the update and for the report.

Can you generate a debug log of this behavior as described at:
http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=6&t=341

Thx.

Rusty,

I have the files. Do I send them to the helpdesk referred to in the post you linked to and reference this topic number? Is that how I send them to you?

Fucial,

You can either send them to the helpdesk directly (referencing this topic), or if they're really large, upload them to mediafire, and post the links here.

Thanks!

Thanks, Rusty. Can you tell this is the first time I've ever had a problem with MediaMonkey? And I've used it since I got an ipod photo years ago! The ticket number is KIF-410330.

fucial,

Thanks for the debug log.

Unfortunately, it doesn't seem to show any problems--it just indicates that the files are inaccessible (e.g. a dead link). Can you re-verify that the tracks on your auto-sync list are actually all available? Perhaps try reproducing the bug with e.g. 10 tracks that you are certain are accessible?

Thanks for your help and patience.

Thanks Rusty! That's exactly what happened. I hate iTunes. Why does it change all my music around! I use it for my iphone so it must have messed everything up in MM. I deleted the database and re-added everything and the sync worked!
