I have a desktop and a laptop and on both win Win7 x64 Media Monkey freezes the entire computer where I have to force a shutdown with the power button while the hard drive is operating!!! Laptop has the RC version and the Desktop had a Vista x64 Ultimate upgrade to Win 7 Ultimate.

Go to the Options and then to Visualizations Plug-ins and then click on Geiss then Start/Stop. Freeze!

Anyone else seeing this? I tried using Geiss (4.28 which comes with MM), for a few minutes without any problems.

Gargantulakon,

Does it happen as soon as you enable the visualization or do you have to wait a few minutes?
Can you tell me what version of Geiss is running on your machine (click 'Options' for the Geiss visualization) ?

Interesting, I can run the Geiss visualization with no problems at all.
I'm running 1282 on Win7 64-bit

I cannot find the version number. It happens to me immediately. I am going to try again on my laptop to see if it happens again. On the laptop, the screen went blank and on my desktop I still saw my dual screens, but I could not do anything.

I just tried it on my laptop and it worked with no problems. I do not get it...argh computers.

Note that you can click the 'Options' button before running the visualization (click the 'v' arrow next to the visualization button, and click 'options').

I am confused as to where you mean? Options from the toolbar or from the Options window? When I click on Configure, I do not see a version number anywhere.

I cannot believe I missed that. :o I have v4.28 too.

I just tried starting the Geiss visualizer again on my desktop and this time both of my monitors turned black and a full lockup again. I had to force a shutdown. My G15 keyboard has a display and that froze so it was a frozen computer at least in terms of input. My HD was still seeking and sound could still be heard. Geiss was running on its default options.

At the time, I had Comodo Internet Security, Dropbox, APC Powerchute, Prevx, Shortkeys, Creative X-FI Volume Panel running as taskbar icons.

Since we can't reproduce, would you mind generating a debug log?

Note that because your machine freezes, you'll need to configure dbgview to automatically save to a file--see 4b at:

Thanks!

My computer got messed up after doing this since I had to do a hard shut down so I hope this really helps. My Win7 transparency in the theme went away and Windows said it had trouble connecting to a Windows service when logging in. I slept the computer and woke it up and then it said my system was low on resources so I could not log in. I had to restart it. Wow... I cannot keep doing this...this is a brand new computer and the HD might be going bad now. I love to beta test, but I do not want to wreck my computer.

Gargantulakon,

Thanks for taking the time and effort--I really hope your machine issues work themselves out.

Unfortunately, the log didn't show much other than the fact that the problem is somewhere in Geiss. for the next build, we're going to include the next release of Geiss (4.29) hopefully it'll resolve the issue. The change that _may_ be relevant is that the new version matches the Visualization resolution to the resolution on the PC's primary monitor.

Hopefully, it does fix the issue. I am running 1024x768 on dual monitors. I have Media Monkey running on the secondary monitor. I hope this helps solve the issue.

I'm running Win7 x64 pro with dual monitors MM 3.2.0.1292 and Geiss 4.29 and did not have this issue.

The visualization works smoothly on either one of my monitors.

One screen runs the visualization and the other displays MM, however i cannot access MM because the visualization is running. I just press Esc to end the visualization.

No problems here.

WOW! Try to stay with me here...

I tried it again and I got the same result. I am pressing Start/Stop while MM is on my secondary monitor. Both screens went blank, music played for a bit and then got stuck in a loop. I was about to do a hard shutdown and I thought to wait it out overnight to see. I pressed my power button once which I set to go to Sleep mode. After waiting about 15 minutes the computer actually went to sleep. I woke up the computer and logged in. My task bar was frozen, but I could access my windows. Then Windows kept freezing every few seconds. MM was seen on my 2nd monitor, so I clicked on it and then I was frozen again with blank screens. Again, I pushed the sleep button, nothing after 15 minutes. I went to bed. I pushed it about 3 more times and the computer finally went to Sleep mode. I woke it up and I am typing this now after that and MM closed itself and my Comodo had an alert about VisHelper.exe trying to access csrss.exe in memory. I set VisHelper as a trusted app. My computer seems to be stable now.

I tried running it on my main monitor and it froze again. I waited about 30 mins and it went to sleep. Right before it went to sleepI saw the visualization. When I logged in again, it was running on my primary monitor. I clicked it and frozen again with blank screens and now I amtyping this from my cell.
