1282 Crashing

I'm having stability issues with the 1282 version of MM and have experienced several crashes without being able to consistently repeat them.
I don't see where it should matter, but prior to when 1282 started crashing, I did reinstall some prior versions using saved copies of my database from when those versions were originally installed. I do this frequently to test differences between new and old versions. It has not caused issues in the past as long as the correct database for that version is the one being tested. When I was finished with my tests, I reinstalled 1282 using the current database. I only keep one version of MM installed at any time.
The first time MM crashed, I was trying to add 22 .mp3 files to my Library using drag & drop from Windows Explorer. MM successfully added all 22 files and Auto-organized them, but failed to analyze the volume as set in my options. I restarted MM and it immediately began analyzing the volume of the tracks added before the crash. After it finished, I added the remaining files and everything worked fine until I tried to exit MM where I got a message "There are background processes running. Terminate them ?". There were no processes showing on the progress bar, MM appears to be idle with nothing playing, there's no editing being done and my system is abysmally slow with MM using 85-95% of the CPU and 81M of memory. If I answer "No", the message goes away, MM seems to run normally but continues to consume most of my system resources. If I answer "Yes", MM appears to close down, but it leaves the MediaMonkey.exe process running. I had to terminate MediaMonkey.exe using the Task Manager to get it to release the system resources.
I restarted MM and spent several hours showing my wife how MM works without any problems.
Later, I tried to add 99 .flac files using Windows Explorer to drag & drop them onto my Library. MM crashed part way through adding the files. Again, it successfully added 71 of the 99 files and Auto-organized them, but failed to analyze the volume. When I tried to restart MM, the system told me it was already running. Again, I used Task Manager to determine that the MediaMonkey.exe process was still running and using 85-95% of the CPU. I terminated the process using the Task Manager.
I restarted MM and it immediately began analyzing the volume of the 71 .flac files added before the previous crash. After it finished with that process, I used drag & drop to add the remaining .flac files and MM processed them all properly. Next, I tried to convert all 99 .flac files to 320k .mp3 format. MM crashed after completing 77 of the 99 files. Same result as previous crashes -- MediaMonkey.exe is still running in the background using 85-95% of the CPU. Terminated MM and restarted it. Converted remaining .flac files with no problems. When I tried to exit MM, got the message "There are background processes running. Terminate them ?" again. Answered "Yes", then used Task Manager to terminate MediaMonkey.exe.
Restarted MM, played some songs, did some Track editing and exited with no errors or problems.
Is anyone else having this or similar stability issues with this version ? If not, any ideas on where to look for causes in my system would be greatly appreciated.
