Windows 7@home, Win XP@work . . how do you do it!

Hello,
I'm a new user to MediaMonkey. Have used Helium Music Manager before but MediaMonkey seems much better and clean.
I've been reading trough out the forum but I'm more confused than before! Please help.
I have 2 computers at work running XP SP3. One of them is the one I use the most so MM is installed there. The other computer has the songs (90GB) at the usual
My Documents/My Music. So I mapped a drive in the main computer to that location and did the "File/Add rescan tracks to the library", everything worked smoothly. I began to edit tracks and added more music to the collection.
I then had the idea to copy the My Music folder to an external USB portable hard drive and brought that home. I installed MediaMonkey in my home Windows 7 computer and did the same exact "File/Add rescan tracks to the library" thing. I edited some of the tags in my files (inside MediaMonkey), noticing that the info was updated when I looked at it in Windows Explorer so I taught that the info was saved there.
Next day back at work I returned all the My Music folder to the "server" computer from the USB hard drive with the modified files and once again "File/Add rescan tracks to the library" and guess what, it didn't work as expected. The tracks and folder that I edited were not updated.
Ultimately what I want to accomplish is to be able to move the collection between work and home PC's and If I edit anything in one machine it won't be lost when I update in the other.
Should I copy the INI and database to the USB drive?
Thank you.
