This topic is for work on a successor to das Monkey's Lyricator script. The current version of the script has not been updated since v0.96b(2008-04-10).

Major known problem with the existing script is aborting when UTF-8 character sets (e.g. Hebrew) are encountered in Artist, etc. and Title tags.

Current status is a work in progress with Owyn & me as primary participants.

At this time no functional changes are anticipated to the script. Just bug fixes. The original documentation should still be current.

Soon me or Owyn will upload the script with our changes.

This is great news, I love this script, and I'm sure that Hebrew users will be grateful

Hebrew is just an example, the objective is to get this working for all non-Western European character sets which are provided in UTF-8.

Lyricator 1.0 Build 001 is now available.

This version should fix:
- Abort on unexpected characters
- Improve results from LyricsPlugin
- Finding lyrics in non-Western European (Japanese, Hebrew, Cyrillic, etc) character sets
The GUI should look unchanged (except where it does not abort ).

This has been tested without observed errors on my system but needs a lot more testing. There are other problems which may have been fixed with this version, but, I have not seen the symptoms so I just don't know, e.g.
- Lyricator spinning on first track of track list
- Same lyric applied to different tracks

I have one report of an "Unknown Name" error box, but, at this point do not have more details about the error. I have not been able to reproduce the problem.

Found a problem.
The Source "LyricWiki" no longer works.

Please check that this option is unchecked in Tools->Options->Library->Lyricator->Sources.

"LyricsPlugin" is the only source which is known to work.

Added item to remove this option in next release.

So far so good! Worked will all of my problem tags.

The "Unknown Name" problem has now been traced down to sometimes needing to exit & restart MM after installing the mmip.

Recommend exit & restart of MM after any installs of this script.

Found another problem in testing with G-Diablo. The lyrics lookup for e.g. Hebrew are not succeeding. Working on solution for next release.

Looking for more test meta-data for Lyricator.

Western European and Hebrew character sets have now been tested successfully.

Looking for popular/very well known Artist+Title in other languages.

Set: Hebrew
Title: ניסים
Artist: עברי לידר

First of all, thanks for developing that great tool...I love the original.
Just a little suggestion, would you mind including the code written by mrbug in the old Thread in te next version? I put in in my Lyricator.vbs and it works fine and quite more comfortable, because you can access Lyricator through the Drop-Down-Menu.

Hmmm. Looks interesting.

Might not make it for the next release which is targeted at known problems, but, probably the release after it.

Edit: As you can see I already had build 2 ready. Will include this in next release, assuming no problems with code.

Bug fix release:
- LyricsPlugin now only supported Source
- Reworked UTF8.encode. Now known to successfully find lyrics for all Western European languages and Hebrew.

This should work without crashing for all other UTF8 sets as well, but, untested. I still need test data to confirm results.

Hey Owyn, G-Diablo, maybe we could have the latest version download link in the first post to make it easier to find? Right now it's easy but as pages are added it will become more and more difficult.
