Song repeats in 12 second intervals

Every five or ten tracks, MM will begin looping a portion of the song. Although the seek bar continues to proceed and all other program behavior seems normal, it will continue repeating the segment (I've timed it at roughly 12 seconds) continuously until the seek bar reaches the end of the song (eg. 4:12).
At first I thought this was a problem with flac files exclusively, but I was listening to a streaming radio station with MM and the same thing happened. Of course, this time the track never reached the end (because it's a stream) and it continued until I pressed stop and then played the stream again. Pressing pause just resumed the repeating behavior.
This has happened both when I'm doing something in the background (eg. organizing files, leveling volume, ect.) and when MM is exclusively playing music. I'm using version 3.2.0.1294 on Windows 7 and I've purchased a gold license.
Any ideas? It's maddening to walk over to my computer every few tracks to stop and restart because it's repeating the same chorus over and over again. At this point I'm using VLC in lieu of the software that cost me $20...

Check Tools > Options > Output Plug-ins and see if the correct sound device is configured. If that's the case try switching output plugins. Also make sure you're using the latest device drivers for your audio, but also other devices.

i think you should try and run mediamonkey in admin mode right click the icon when you start it and have it run in admin all the time see if that fixes it.
this is very simular to what i was having with it stopping my songs. but i use xp pro.
my only other idea is from what you said, running things in the back ground. and doing that uses up resources.
now with windows 7 i know you got gb's of ram. but i'm thinking maybe monkey can't see the full amount of ram so he thinks it is filled. or in fact you do have it filled by other running apps.
also the things you said you do in the background will eat up ram they are ram heavy features so it is possible that is doing it. but when just playing music and it does it seems to be another app filling up the ram.
so try to go in to the swap file if win 7 has one and make it a larger amount. see if that will allow the other apps to go in there and let monkey use the ram also there is a feature to make monkey use differnt cpu's for the dual and quad core cpus try splitting up the operations on different cores to see if that helps speed up things and keeps it going.

Thanks for the advice. I don't think it's a problem with memory usage, as I have a usable 3.5 gb of memory available. I've kept an eye on MM through task manager and it usually sits between 100,000 Mb and 250,000 Mb of memory usage.
I'm using the MediaMonkey DirectSound output plug-in right now. Are there any settings you would suggest I change within the configuration? Should I perhaps try the waveOut output v2.0.2a plug-in instead?
I've been using Resource Monitor to see the disk activity exclusive to MediaMonkey.exe and I've come across some interesting data. Whenever I use the "Auto-tag From Web" feature to update the tags on an album, the programs writes to the MM.DB file at roughly 150,000 B/s. In addition, the program will hang for 10 - 20 seconds, becoming completely unresponsive. This happens when I tag both mp3 and flac files.
Any further input?

Yes, check the audio device that's selected, make sure it's the correct device. Also switching to waveout might help.

This is the exact same problem I am having. The program also stops responding while it happens... Help would be just great... I tried both suggestions already mentioned: running as admin and using the correct sound device, no help.

Well I tried the WAV output also... Now it doesn't loop, just stops lol.
I said screw it and converted everything to WMA lossless... Yay i7! I'll let you know how that worked out...
*Edit - Working so far, it seems FLACs are the problem for me.

You might want to contact support and send them a sample file it crashes on.

I have the same problem when synchronising with my iRiver Clix and doing other things in MM at the same time. It occurs since I changed to Windows 7 (64bit). MM freezes and even task manager isn't able to close it.
The file is at random.
Any plausible reason? Why does it repeat in 12 second intervals?

Same experience here running Windows 7 x64. This problem occurs when running version 3.2.0.1294 or 3.1.1.1261.

I've done some tests now. Synchronising doesn't work even when nothing else is done or played and without any autoscripts. After around 400 tracks the light of my external USB HD goes off and MM hangs.
I've already checked the disk incl. scan for bad sectors, it seems to be ok. Very strange.
Edit: it depends on autoconversion/replaygain and flac plugin. I will investigate further. Maybe related to

I've submitted a support ticket:
When synchronizing FLAC files, MM hangs after some tracks randomly if auto-conversion or level volume is activated.
When music was playing during sync, it repeats the last 12 seconds endlessly.
This occurs only with f_flac_codec.dll and f_flac.dll, but not if they are replaced by in_flac.dll.
Unfortunately with in_flac.dll - the official Winamp 2 plugin from FLAC 1.2.1 - there is no tag support.

I'm also having this problem, but with normal mp3 files.. it's happened while listening through albums, on every single album I've listened through which is about 10 so far in the past few days of using MM. It literally is like a record getting stuck - very annoying. Is there a fix for this yet?

Have you tried to deactivate "Level playback volume" yet?

Delete/rename f_flac_codec.dll, leave f_flac.dll, and add in_flac.dll.
Please report back.
