I am looking for a automated way to calculate the total time of a playlist. As there default playlists suggesting that they are automatically 74 minutes, respectivel 650 Mb, I assume that there is such possibility in MM.

This is already possible. Just select the playlist, and look at the status bar (at the bottom) and it will tell you how many files, the total size and time of the playlist.
