"Multiple" tags

i.e. to create different node entries for the same data. Tags separated by the separator as defined in the options - default, which I use, being a semi-colon.
This does not work for Albums. Is this deliberate? I have a huge library of Grateful Dead shows and recordings. The shows have an standard Album name, as follows
yyyy-mm-dd [Venue, Town, State] Format
Formal releases, e.g "The Closing of Winterland" I wish to access by that, and also by date as above, so
1978-12-31 [Winterland Arena, San Francisco, CA]
However, when I concatenate these two formats, using the semi-colon delimiter, the album becomes
The Closing Of Winterland;1978-12-31 [Winterland Arena, San Francisco, CA]
Help does not indicate that multiple tagging is restricted to a defined set of tags (e.g Album Artist, which I multi-tag frequently, and DOES work)
Any clues anyone?

I'm pretty sure that the album node does not support multiple tags 'cause a track can really only come from one tag.
What you could do instead is add the formal release album name to the "original album" field on the details tab and expose that as a node in your library tree.
I'm curious though, why you want this? I'm really curious.

Sure. I have some 3 Terabytes plus of Grateful Dead music - live shows, and formal releases. In order to access these in a sensible way, I use (and this goes back to the fact that I used to use WMP, until releases 10 & 11 demonstrated they can't handle large libraries, one as a result of the GUI change (no explorer type interface) and worse, WMP never loaded all the music {and never gave an error message}). WMP uses Album Artist as Artist, so Album Artist is my main node into the Data
Thus I have variations on
Grateful Dead (Live - 1966) ... to
Grateful Dead (Live - 1995)
Grateful Dead (Dick's Picks)
Grateful Dead (Download Series)
Grateful Dead (Vaults Releases)
Grateful Dead (Box Sets) and so on.
WRT to the Album node, I'd like to see an entry for release albums also amongst those done by DATE (the live shows), as well as how they currently display, which is by Title as released. You should know that I worked for 25 years on Library systems, mostly on huge Unis like Oxford University, Trinity College Dublin & The National Library of Wales. In all of these, multiple access nodes to the same data exist (if you are interested in library tagging, go to the Library of Congress site, and look for MARC Tags - MAchine Readable Tags - the MARC system is I suspect the most complex tagging system there is); and I guess my wish is a look back to this - I like to see things in all the places they might sensibly be.
Make sense?

multi-tagging is indeed restricted to certain tags. Album isn't one of them -- it wouldn't make sense for a track to be on two albums when most likely it would then need two track numbers, two different years, etc.

Not really - it does not seem unreasonable - in my case - to wish to access an album by the date of the show released, as well as the title.

If you want to access it by date, then store that info in the date field.

Mediamonkey supports the "original album" and the "original date" fields.
As for customizing the nodes appearing in the tree. All combinations you could think of are possible using the magic nodes script.

Magic nodes! Haven't been there. Will check it out. Thanks

The script
Track Redirection & Synchronization may also be of some use? Not overly familiar with it, but from what little I know, I think it may offer an alternative solution.
