1346: Manual resorting of Playlist issue [#7282]

After sorting on a column manual resorting of tracks is not working. One has to update the Play Order before you can manually resort the Playlist again.
Tested on skinned 1346 on XP. Can anyone reproduce?

Lowlander, Nohitter,
Can you explain this one to me? I tested 1351, and am able to sort playlist/NP tracks, no problem.
Thanks.

This seems to be fixed for the Now Playing, but still exists on Playlists and AutoPlaylists.
1) Select a Playlist
2) Click on a column header to apply a new sort
3) Now attempt to drag & drop tracks to do a manual sort
4) Notice it won't let you do this
5) Use Alt+F5 to update Play Order
6) Repeat step 3 and it works

I see what you mean, but I'm not sure if this is really a bug. i.e. if the user sorts a playlist, the play order isn't changed until the user 'Updates play order'. So re-arranging tracks after the playlist has been sorted is kind of meaningless.
I suppose MM could 'assume' that if the user moves tracks around within a playlist that it implies that the user really wanted to sort the playlist, and that such an operation should therefore trigger an 'Update play order' operation. Thoughts?

Column sorting should be treated like manual sorting. A user can already manually sort more than 1 track without having to save playlist between tracks. So it makes sense that after column sorting manual sorting is available without having to save playlist order first. Once user is done the user can save playlist order.
Some might find it easier to first sort on Title or Artist, etc. and then apply manual sorting.

I know I am coming to this conversation late but I would like to add that although a user sorts a playlist does not mean the user would wish for the playorder to be automatically updated. There are many situations when I like to sort playlists just because I am looking for particular songs and/or artists but I do not wish for this sort to be permanently changed on the playlist. I think MM should remain the same and allow the user to decide to update the playlist if necessary. Or a user option should be added to allow for the user to decide whether the default behavior will be to automatically update or the user decide to update. Just my two cents.

That's not what is requested. Automatic saving of playlist sort isn't requested, it's just requested that after column sort you would be able to do manual sorts and that isn't possible. You will either need to exit the playlist (select other node) to revert to previous sort to then be able to manual sort or have to save the column sort and then be allowed to manually sort. This means the user can't do a column sort and then manual sort without having to save the new order even if the user never wanted to change the saved order.
Also you can do Manual Sort then Column Sort, but can't Column Sort then Manual Sort which is inconsistent.
