Mood Tags Added By MM Not Appearing in Explorer

I've just spent some time adding Mood tags to several files, both WMA and MP3, to create autoplaylists. When I go to windows explorer or windows media player/center, only the wma tracks are picking up the new mood tags - why aren't the mp3 files picking up the mood tag changes? Is this possible to fix?

Thanks in advance for any help.

Probably explorer does not read from the same tag as MM writes to for mood.

I kind of guessed that! Is there anyway to write tags so that the os used by 99% of users can see all the changes?

Ok, I've done some more research and I've discoved the root cause of the problem but not a solution.

By using mp3tag I've discovered that additions to the 'mood' field in mediamonkey are added to a 'comment musicmatch_mood' field in the tag and not the 'mood' field in the tag that is read by windows and by mp3tag.

Why is this? Is this a bug?

No, MM writes comment to TMOO frame as described in the help: http://www.mediamonkey.com/sw/webhelp/f ... erties.htm

I think the issue is probably that Win explorer writes this to a ID3v2.4 frame (TMOO) while MM writes it to ID3v2.3 frame of the same name. In this case MM can read the ID3v2.4 tag but not write it.

Not sure then why mp3tag has the mood field down as comment musicmatch_mood.

Win explorer doesn't support ID3 v2.4 so that's not the issue; when I add mood to explorer it shows correctly in MM but not vice versa.

I think MM writes mood to both TMOO and comment musicmatch_mood.
