2.5 A1 Good, Bad, and Ugly

The good:
-Party Mode
-AutoDJ is a great feature. Like iPod shuffle mode, but with the ability to see what's coming up and what's already played. RadioFreeMonkey was OK, but I really like this feature built it.
-Included default scripts. These are a great addition.
The bad:
- I had install problems with the scripts, mainly because I already had the case script installed. After some Script.ini tweaking I got the new ones to show up as well.
- After trying party mode and returning to regular mode, MM will minimize and resize, but always remains on the top.
- Ignoring "The" in artists names doesn't quite work like I expected. I would think that "The Beatles" would now be combined with "Beatles" (or possibly even ("Beatles, The")
- Would like to see "The" and "A(n") ignored in song and album titles.
- No button to toggle AutoDJ on and off
The ugly (features I am hoping make 2.5):
- AAC tagging
- iPod cover art support
- podcasting

Couldn't agree more!
I also think the Party Mode gets a bit messy, and why is the scripts at "Create Reports"? Why not place it with "Tools"?
I would also like to have an option to ignore "The" or not...
I also hope you can steal the search function from iTunes. It's also used in WinAmp!
Good luck...

Perhaps various scripts could be classified as "Default scripts" and "User scripts"...

-Re. script problems and scripts appearing under Reports: Has anyone else seen the new scripts appear under Reports instead of under the Tools menu?
-Re. party mode resizing problem--thx. It's added to the bug db.
-Re. ignoring "The" in artists names: there are a ton of different opinions on how this should be done. I personally think that the current implementation strikes the best balance because it allows you to easily organize your files, but at the same time doesn't hide problems that will manifest themselves when you e.g. synch with a portable device
-Re. ignoring "The" and "A(n") in artist and album titles, I don't see the need, but I suggest raising the issue for discussion on the 'wishlist' forum
-No button to toggle AutoDJ on and off: great suggestion!
- AAC tagging: unlikely but possible for 2.5
- iPod cover art support: slated for 2.5, but no promises
- podcasting: unlikely

Mine show up under Reports. The export all playlists works great!

I also would like the option to turn off the automatic handling of "The". Unless it can be more user configurable, I would rather keep them all under the "The".
Also, MM doesn't appear to like my Creative Nomad JB3. I need to do more testing before posting further on this.

I would like to do some test with user that have iPod Photo (as I do not own it) to clear some things regarding this. Here it is what should be tested:
1. Select one MP3 that do not have album art in tag.
2. Sync with iPod to be sure that Album art is not shown
3. Add album art in MM and make sure that it is in mp3 Tag as Front Cover (check with other app that supports Album art)
4. Resync that file with iPod photo and check if the file is actually updated.
5. Play the file and check if the Album art is shown
Report results here or even better (to keep this in topic) to me as Private Message.
THX to all.

i wouldn't want that. i think the way it is implemented now with just ignoring "The" in artist name is perfect!ยด

Now the alphabetical order is driving me crazy!

Yep, this feature should be optional in my mind as it may be very confusing...

Peke, Rusty, Jiri,
First of all: thanks for the new alpha. Especially the new image resizing algorithm looks nice.
My test results with MM 2.5.1.896 and iPod Photo 40 GB:
Album Art is NOT shown after updating the file.
The file is updated - when you view its properties, the album art is in the tag, but it doesn't show.
And the scripts show up under the reports section...
regards,

Ahh...that was the problem. I couldn't find them under scripts and thought it was due to the duplicate script. Yeah I changed the script type (and removed the duplicate) and that fixed the problem.

resynched photo ipod with mp3s with and without album art, doesnt show up on either. Maybe you should talk to the guys at anapod, as I hear they have got album art working on theirs (although whether they will tell the "competition" or not i dont know).

After installing 2.5 over the previous version MM scripts went under reports. I think the problem was that i had allready installed all of the scripts that are now included in MM.
Also i wa getting an "Index out of bounds" error each time i was trying to access options and setup player.
I unistalled MM, cleaned the scripts and plugins folders, reinstalled and everything worked as it should...
