attempting to click negative sign below half star results in 2 1/1 star rating :\

I tried in Track Listing, Properties and from tray icon and it worked for all here. I only managed to crash MediaMonkey, but in all scenarios it did take the bomb rating.

This only happens from the 'drop down' from the taskbar under Windows 7.

Important detail you forgot. I'm on XP so of course I won't be able to reproduce it as XP only has the tray icon.

Works fine for me in win 7.

Rating as bomb never worked from here.

I can confirm the bomb rating is not accessible.

Why? It never worked from that pop up window and I'm not sure it should work from there. Similarly you can't rate as bomb from the regular player.

Can you give one logical reason why users shouldn't be given access to the bomb rating from the pop up AND/OR player?

I utilize the bomb rating regularly to signify that there are just some tracks so horrible, that I keep them around to remember that they are just TERRIBLE. It doesn't make any sense that the bomb is only available via right-clicking.

Well, you're right regarding the pop up. There's no reason that it shouldn't be accessible there. So I've reported it here:

Regarding the player: yes, there are a couple reasons. The main one being for how the player is skinned, it simply won't allow for a bomb to work there. And I don't see how you could rate a track as bomb when hovering over a set of stars. Just like you can't when hovering over the selected track rating in the list view.
