1385 - Adding Blank Track to Playlist During Import [#7939]

I use the export playlist/import playlist feature to transfer my played tracks of the day from one MM4 installation to another. However each time the import playlist feature is used it inserts a blank track at the top of the playlist. Here is what the beginning of the playlist looks like:

Code: Select all

m:\music\mp3\Slow Jams\Bloodstone - Hypnotized.mp3
m:\music\mp3\Slow Jams\Mariah Carey - Fly Like a Bird.mp3
m:\music\mp3\Slow Jams\Celine Dion - Because You Loved Me.mp3
m:\music\mp3\Soundtracks\John Legend - Dare to Dream.mp3
m:\music\mp3\Wedding\Wedding Tracks - This I Promise You.mp3
m:\music\mp3\Slow Jams\Teena Marie - A Rose By Any Other Name.mp3
m:\music\mp3\Slow Jams\Blackstreet - Before I Let You Go.mp3
m:\music\mp3\Slow Jams\Mariah Carey - Don't Forget About Us.mp3
m:\music\mp3\Slow Jams\Aretha Franklin - (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman [Live].mp3
m:\music\mp3\Slow Jams\Duffy - Mercy (Original).mp3
m:\music\mp3\Slow Jams\Al Green - How Can You Mend a Broken Heart.mp3
m:\music\mp3\Slow Jams\Alicia Keys - Every Little Bit Hurts (MTV Unplugged).mp3
m:\music\mp3\HipHop\Bow Wow - Bounce Wit Me.mp3
m:\music\mp3\Slow Jams\Aaliyah - Are You That Somebody.mp3
m:\music\mp3\Pop\Annie Lennox - Why.mp3
Here is what the imported playlist looks like in MM, as you can see the first track is not imported correctly. This has been happening since I upgraded to 1385 but I am unsure if it was happening prior to that.

I am not sure which import feature you mean, but if I import the M3U by rescanning a folder in which it is located then it is imported correctly.

The import feature is the Add/Rescan with m3us selected, and this happens on two different computers, both running 1385, one has scripts installed and the other doesn't. But the first track is always incorrectly scanned. I tried it with different tracks in the first position and it still happens. It does the exact same thing on an empty database, here is what the properties of the track look like:

And the a copy of the playlist can be downloaded from here: http://dl.dropbox.com/u/13254132/today.m3u. Also, it sometimes does this when opening the mediamonkey.m3u file when starting MM, so it appears to be something about how MM is reading m3u files.

Using File > Export to Playlist then File > Add/Rescan Files I can't reproduce. Are the files of the Playlist you're scanning already in the Library?

Yep, they are in both libraries, although the library that is exporting the playlist is just a duplicate of the original. I used the move device script to change the drive id. But the same thing happens when I use a blank library. It doesn't matter what the first track is, it does it every time.

I also could not reproduce, but there was indeed a problem in our code that causes this, fixed as http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=7939

I'm glad, I was getting a little worried something wacky was going on with my db. Now if only I can figure out why the playlists are acting up on my Zen sync.

Thanks guys for your help. :D

I know you have a solution to this but I wanted to say when I turned off the "use unicode for m3u playlists" option for both db's the problem went away.
