Search window (Ctrl+F) default input field (focus) [#7956]

Hi,

i want to ask if i am the only one who has the problem that when trying to search (no matter if via the menu or by Ctrl+F) you have to tab many times to the proper field (search in all fields) to do a global search.

I think this was different in the past.
I would like to see the search window opening with the deafault focus set to the field that searches in all DB-fields.
In MM 4 it defaults to the first control in the search window (in think it is a listview with categories).

Regards

Chris

If you're searching all fields why not use the search toolbar which already searches all fields (those enabled under Tools > Options > Search)?

Hi lowlander,

using the search toolbar is definitely an option!

But i have got so used to pressing the (windows default) shortcut Ctrl+F that i would still instist on having the focus initially on the "search in all DB-fields" textfield on the "full" search window when opening via Ctrl+F.

I think this is quite intuitiv behaviour as any deeper option for specialized searches could easily reached by tabbing forward.

To have the default focus set to the combobox on the top of the searchwindow in contrast, i do not find comfortable from a usability point of view.
As it is now you have to tab sometimes for every search or additionally use the mouse.

Regards

Chris
