The new 'Show Art with Details" forget to ignore 'the' prefix when sorting.

Ex.: The Charles Lloyd Quartet

is sorted so it is placed last in the group of Album Artists, which first letter is C.

Note that the sorting is correct in the 'Tree View/list'.

Summary column in AA + Details view is sorted by showed text so you're right ... it ignores The.

PetrCBR was this tracked as a bug, or.....

the old 'Show Art with Details' in MM3 did this correct, and so should MM4, don't you think so....

The best thing would be to move this setting from 'Library/Appearance' tab to 'Playback Rules' tab.

No it's not a bug. In MM3 it work correctly because there's always Album Artist and Album so we know how to sort it and we can ignore 'the'. In MM4 there could be anything so we need to sort it by text itself.

PetrCBR - if it isn't a bug, then it is a design flaw.

As it is now with your solution, there is a difference between f.ex. the sorting method in the genre node in the tree and the main window.

Please reconsider this matter, as it is now it's very inconsistent.

The problem is that Summary isn't Album Artist it is a field that can have many different values, which the user can define. If you want it can be Album or Year or anything else. Even within a view it can be different things. That apparently rules out applying ignore prefix sorting on the Summary column. You can enable the Album Artist column and use it to sort.

Thanks for your suggestion Lowlander, but see what happens if I enable Album Artist and use this as sorting - compare with the node in the tree.

If I use 'Show Details' - the sorting is correct - as soon as I use 'Show Art with Details', the sorting is wrong and inconsistent and have been so, since the introduction of the new options at the Playback Rules tab.

And where are missing artists like AC/DC located? I sorted an AutoPlaylist here on Album Artist in the Art with Details view and AC/DC was were it belongs.

I decided to look further and under Music > Genre > Some Genre when sorting on Album Artist it actually sorts on Album.

I've just installed build 1424 and now it works correct and ignores 'the' prefix, when Show Art with Details is sorted by Album Artist, and it must be the changes in ID 0008295, that has fixed this, so......

now I'm a happy guy. Hope that this won't be changed back .....
