Editing a PLAYING track is risky

It is (still) risky to edit a track while it is playing, both individual and batch editing can cause problems.
The most innocent of this problem: the updated file will come up later as a dead link while the old one is still there (or vice versa!) Or the update file exists twice and one of them is dead. That means you have to try both to be sure which one is the real good one.
But several times my 'dead link' search came up with edited files which were simply gone, unavailable on the computer - at least: not findable under any search word.
If apparently editing playing tracks is a problem, then MM should consider to BLOCK editing playing tracks.
For instance with a pop up window with options: this track cannot be edited now because it is playing. do you want: 1. to stop the player and edit the track? - 2. to continue playing and edit the track at a later time?

I want to confirm that I too have experienced this from time to time. But it is very difficult to trace the exact cause and the conditions under which it occurs. In addition, it is very rare.
So I reinsure and edit tracks after they stop.
Pop up window would be helpful.

editing now or currently playing tracks use to work fairly well when all you had to do was edit 4 or 5 tags.
but in the ever growing list of tags that a song can have edited they are becoming hard to edit or not even editable,
while currently playing.
you must remember playing songs means monkey has to go to the file and play it from its directory or go get it and load
it in to the cache so it plays from the ram and not from the hard drive.
doing it in the dirctory will make the hard drive work slower and might possibley make it un able to let monkey browse
the file system until the song is finished.
doing it in the ram cache makes it a new file being played and allows monkey to browse the file systems on the hard drives.
only now while in the cache if you edit the song it is not going to be edited in the file in the dirctory when the file is finished
windows sees it is a new file but has no place to put it so its cleared out with the ram's leftover files when windows clears the cache. if the song file in the dirctory is changed it is possibley one that was being played from the directory which windows was able to adjust then.
i've never liked editing the current playing song for that reason i wouldn't mind if they did block it from being able to get edited, if they can program a code for that.
but until they do just remember not to edit the currently playing song as it might be in the cache and get tossed out by windows when finished playing.

@rovingcowboy:
i don't understand your explanation for the complete 100% but most of it is clear.
but my approach is still a different one: if it is apparently risky or complicated to edit a currently playing song, then MM should warn the user, give him a choice or just block it.
better safe than sorry!

I agree, while I have not encountered problems similar to yours I have had problems when I've made updates to a track which is playing. The changes should be saved after the track stops playing or you should not be able to edit a playing track. But this is something that is only evident in MM4, MM3 safely allowed you to make changes, so I am not sure where the disconnect has occurred.

nynaevelan, the monkey use to hold the info in his database until the song was finished then write it and or hold it until he was closed then do a fast write of the song's edited info. but in adding the video part to the database i believe they had to do some adjustments for making the database faster or more stable and might have changed that on purpose or by accident. but i believe its do to the adding of the video info in the database that causes this mess up now.
you know monkey's gown up now so as you did stop certian things you did as a kid so must monkey.
