1456 and skipping tracks [#8664]

I have been keeping up with pretty much every build of the MM4 beta. I feel that this latest 1456 actually affected me the most. Most tracks work fine but occasionally I will play certain tracks that will just skip through as if i rapidly held fast forward and played different sections of the song. The songs that work perfectly will continue to work perfectly, but the ones that don't will consistently have the same issue whether I restart the app, restart the computer, etc.

One example is a John Legend album I have called Evolver. Most tracks work perfectly but everytime I play track 10 - "Take Me Away" it will skip around and end at about 0:13. The progress bar will continue to move right as if the song is still playing but nothing will be playing after that time. The track is normally 3:03 so the progress bar will continue to move until then when it will skip to the next track. Everything visually seems right, but the audio obviously is not.

I have tried restarting the computer, restarting MM4, uninstalling/reinstalling MM4, and deleting the track from library / readding it. Neither of these work. There are a few songs I already know just will not ever 100% work correctly.

I tried loading the same songs in VLC and they work just fine so they are not corrupt.

Thanks!

Are the tracks in any specific format? Have you tried to use a different output plugin?

This happened to me too, it seems to be related only to the WASAPI plugin (exclusive mode unchecked). It almost sounds as if the track is playing backwards for some time, then there is silence but the seek bar continues.

It does not happen with the direct sound output plugin. I had only reproduced it on mp3 files, but I didn't test it extensively.

urbanglowcam, nohitter,

If it occurs consistently with specific tracks, can you share one such track with me (e.g. via a link to the track on mediafire.com) ?

Thanks.

The tracks I see this on are all mp3. But I don't have any other formats to test since I primarily use mp3.

I haven't messed with any plug-ins or anything. I listen to a lot of music but not a total audio head so I don't really adjust any plug-ins. I just typically install MM, add tracks to my library, organize them, and listen.

Here's one track that gives me the issue. Again, it only does this on the 1456 for me on various tracks. I will try 1457 in a bit.

Thanks. Jiri has tracked down the problem. It'll be fixed in the next build.

It doesn't work in 1457 either, I just confirmed. Looking forward to the next build with that fix.

Thanks for everything rusty!
