MM v 4.0.0.1459 on Windows XP

When selecting Auto-Tag from Web and downloading Cover Art and storing it in the Tag and saving to folder, some files (.m4a Apple Lossless) are corrupted. When playing the tracks they have a very loud noise in the beginning of the track. Subsequently deleting the art from the tag does not fix it.

I cannot reproduce it. Could you upload me (e.g. using http://www.mediafire.com/ and PM me link) one such file before tagging, that is corrupted by tagging? So that I can try to tag it by myself and look at what is going wrong. Thanks.

I just replicated the problem again on the same machine. I sent you some files.

I will try to replicate it on different machines tomorrow to see whether it might be isolated to this machine. Thanks.

I am glad to see that you resolved for v4.01.

Your fix may already address this but just in case, I just found out the problem is not isolated to Auto-tag from Web only. it also occurs when adding artwork to the tag from a local file.

I just tested it with the new Beta .1460 and it seems to have been resolved - thanks much.

I found some cases on 1461 that still corrupted files, though now also at the end of the audio, some at the beginning.

I just updated to 1462 and the issue did not appear on those same files. The changelog did not mention any fixes for that issue so I thought I would just mention it in case there may still be an issue.

Unfortunately 4.0.2.1462 is still corrupting songs on Auto-tag from web.

I had a local file as the artwork stored in the tags, then Auto-tagged from Amazon, had both files stored in the tag, deleted the local one and was left with only the Auto-tagged one. Saved and the files were corrupted. It seems to now often corrupt the tracks at the end also, not just at the beginning as previously.

It is really, really frustrating as this has corrupted so many of my songs now, forcing me to re-rip them or always making a backup before updating the album art. It has persisted from .1460, 1461 and now 1462. I really would like to be able to modify the tags with confidence without having to backup everything first.

Apologies for the slight rant but I need to vent a little as I had just corrupted an album that I no longer have and I did not back it up first.

I submitted a ticket (or attempted to) and attached a file. I did not get an error message when submitting the ticket but when I look at tickets submitted by me, it does not show any. I tried twice. The attachment size is 20MB, I am not sure whether that caused an issue.

So I do not know whether the ticket was actually successfully submitted.

Attachment limit is 2MB. Upload the file to a file sharing service like Hotfile and add the link in a support ticket.

I too have suffered from this, and MediaMonkey has made a monkey of about 300 of my lossless albums.

Are there any tools that can undo the corruption or am I just going to have to go back to my CDs and rip them all again?

Ok, no reply, so I suppose that that's what I'll have to do. However, this very sad experience has driven me straight back into the arms of iTunes. Shame.
