There are times that we take files on the road, Tablet, laptop etc, and I want to be able to note in MMW at home when i get back date they were watched.

How can this be done?

You can't manually edit this field, but MMA on Android and iOS devices should sync played data back to MMW.

Wow .. thanks for that .. that might help a lot.

That is a problem .. especially for videos where you might not want to sit through all the credits. MMW does not recognize it as played. That is a pain in the ....

That's bookmarking and can be disabled, however it won't remember where you left of playing the file. Also Played# can be editing in the Filelisting by selecting the field and using F2.

Thanks for that. That is why i put it in the wishlist section.

I think that the bookmarking is a very good feature and would like to keep it. I don't really care if it knows that i left a movie with 3 minutes to go. But I do want it to know when I played it.

So it is a 'eat my cake and have it too' kind of situation.

Thanks again for the explanation. And changing the 'played#' can come in handy.

Setting Played# from 0.05 to 1 started the video at the beginning for me.

Yes ... but that is not the issue I brought up (unless i am really missing something) the problem is that the 'last played' does not have the date.

Also, when playing with 'played#' i see that entering data is a little iffy. For example let's say a file played completely. It currently shows 1. If i wanted to start that part way through I try to set it to .50. But when I hit return it resets it to 1.0. A couple of times from 1 i hit f2 and enter .50 and it became 1.50. It started halfway through but seems kind of .. iffy.

But once again I really want to see the date so i can sort/select on it.

Sorry if i really missed your point.

I thought I had noted here but ..

It appears that the addon ONLY works when used from the UI. I watched a vid on a dnla client (my blu-ray player) and it did not update the last played until the end of vid was watched.

This really needs to be incorporated into the service as an option.

When you are watching over dlna the server has no idea when playback finishes and in some cases doesn't even know when playback starts (eg with auto-conversion). That is not a trivial option to implement for dlna. see http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view. ... 837#c28580

I will look at that BUT it is odd that it did note the ending time of a vid i was watching on my blu-ray player Or it got a day/time from somewhere

I would think that when the service starts getting a request it would be able to note date/time.

And after looking at the link it doesn't have anything to do with date/time stamp but with the played# column .. or so I read. Once again OPTIONALLY implementing tag of date/time to 'last played' upon start of serve would work nicely.

Well... right. But they're inherently the same thing. The "Last played" isn't going to update if "Played #" doesn't also update...

But it could. It would be possible to update "Last Played" as soon as the file starts reading.

I have added the addon you mentioned before. I am now watching a series that show like this
Image
I am now watching 'The Killing - Six Minutes' as shown in the Now Playing section. If you look at the details the Played# is set to 1. It has been set to 1 for quite some time. And I am refreshing. Note a couple rows up. 'Try' and 'Reckoning' were both watched all the way through to completion. But date/time weren't set and Played# never advanced passed where it is.
But it is what it is and if it is impossible to do then .. it is impossible. We are just two ships passing in the night :) Looking at things in different ways Thanks

The point I'm trying to make is that DLNA throws a huge wrench into things. All the server knows is when the file is offered up, it doesn't actually know when the client begins to play it, when it finishes playing, whether you've paused/skipped, etc.
