There's a few problems with podcast syncing:

1- After selecting "podcast" as type in MMW, it appears in the music directory in MMA and must be manually changed.
2- Podcasts in MMA are sorted by artist and album, but MMW doesn't allow you to assign a podcast an "album" name in the properties window. Can it sort by something that both MMW and MMA recognize?

Forgot to mention I'm using MMW .1652 and MMA .0156

1) Did the file already exist on device after changing Type in MMW?
2) Podcast and Album are the same field in MMW (so it seems), was Podcast or Album set in MMW?

No, on a fresh sync a file with podcast selected as type syncs as music. I have to manually change each podcast file to podcast type on MMA.
I've tried both, but using the "podcast" field does not transfer over to MMA.

I would not be surprised if MMA uses rules to determine type and doesn't get the info from MMW (it isn't a tag).

You probably have to add "Podcast" as a genre in MMW. Wouldn't surprise me if podcast has to be the only genre.

My testing on MMW 1658 and MMA 165 shows that Podcast files (as downloaded on MMW) show up in Podcasts as expected. Also a normal MP3 file set as Type = Podcast shows up in Podcasts on MMA. A file with Genre = Podcast and one with Genre = Rock; Podcast don't show in Podcasts on MMA.

These results contradict what I suspected and means that MMW determines what is a Podcast on MMA. Note that I did a wifi sync.

Yes, as of builds MMA 164 / MMW 1658, Type information is properly synced.
