Hello,

I using MM 4.1.0.1670 version and TV Samsung UE40D5500. According to information from this webside http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=9623 , MM should stream subtitles in SRT extension in the same way as Serviio. Unfortunately I can't see any subtitles on TV when streaming video from MM server. When using Serviio everything works fine. The SRT file has exactly the same name as video file and they are in the same folder. There is any option in MM to enable SRT streaming?

Yes, it should work.
SRT subtitles are served fine on my LG TV (not tested on Samsung personally, but heard that it works).

Actually MediaMonkey supports two DLNA pseudo standards of serving subtitles (via another resource and via CaptionInfoEx element).

Could you generate debug log (item 4b) here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewto ... ?f=6&t=341 ) so that I could see whether SRT is really served in your case and whether your TV is aking for them so that I could see where the problem lies?

OK, it seems like TV don't ask for SRT file. When I used android phone everything works fine and subtitles appeared on phone screen. I used DebugView in both cases. In phone log file SRT appears, and for TV file is not.

Hi, the DV.7z archive requires a password when I tried to unzip it.

Nevertheless I am going to debug it by comparing the HTTP/XML content served by serviio and MM to see the difference using WireShark.

OK, I will have an opportunity to test this on a Samsung TV next veek. So I will see if I can replicate/debug/fix it.

I am experiencing the same problem: no subtitles over DLNA to a Samsung smart-tv (F6400 series) with MM 4.1.0.1670

Same issue on a Samsung ES7000 model, srt subtitles do not show as option to play, only internal sutitiles show in the list.

I did another test on the str subtitles, this time using build 1681 but got the same results, i can see the subtitles just fine in media monkey player, but nothing shows up on tv, no option to choose the subtitles or subtitles by default.

I saw in the tracker that it shows as fixed:

FYI: Tried to host the same files with servio dlna server and got the same results, no srt subtitles or subtitles option in tv, on serviio the only way i could manage to get the subtitles to show up was by forcing a re-encode of the video, and re-encoding is the worst option

Hi, MM does not re-encode the video when seving subtitles, it serves SRT file as another resource.

Does your TV even support SRT?
i.e. is there any media server that is able to serve SRT to your TV or the only way is really forcing a re-encode?

If there would be such a server, then I could use WireShark to see what it does differently, but so far it doesn't look like supported by your TV at all.
BTW: I own LG TV and there is no issue with serving SRT from MediaMonkey or Serviio.
