hi,
I am a new user of MM and am running 2.5.1
My library has 2285 files (14.7 GB) and it has taken MM over 2 days to sync these into my Iriver H320.
I understand that this is a lot of data and it goes file by file but is there a way to speed this up? I have been disconnecting my iriver from the laptop when I am on the road but still its been over 48 hours with MM running trying to sync up my whole library (for the first time).
I suspect that it is taking about 2-3 minutes per file but still it is too slow. How does one speed this up? Is there a "bulk" file tranfer that one can perform? I tried the "Send To" option but selecting my entire Library but MM has already created a bunch of folders under my "Music" folder by Artist names.
Please help!
Thank a bunch!
Iriver H320 Syncing 14GB has taken forever

Thanks but the new version freezes up my XP taskbar
Hi,
I downloaded the new version and installed it. But running it causes my XP taskbar to freeze up. I just rebooted my laptop twice because of it. For now I am moving back to the earlier working version of MM 2.5.1.xxx
Does anyone know of this bug in this version (2.5.9) for XP Pro SP2?
Does this version speed up sync speed for iriver H300 series?
Thanks!

The link given by guest was a "beta" build.
Ther release version of 2.5.1 build 934 (announcement) is here http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=7182
I have a iRiver H340 and the syncing of 37GB takes less than 60 minutes, so something is wrong in your setup. I also have XP SP2.
Some questions for you?
- Are you using the USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 standard? USB 2.0 is many times quicker.
- What format is your music in? Maybe the auto-convert is converting your data.
- What other software have you used to sync to the H320? What speed did it go at?
- Can you use the H320 as a USB hard drive and copy files to/from it via the file explorer, if so, what speed do you get from that?
Maybe the answer to these questions will help one of us to narrow down your problem.

Hi Anubis,
Thanks for the new link but thats the version I am currently running - 2.5.1.934.
As to your questions:
- Are you using the USB 2.0 or USB 1.1 standard? USB 2.0 is many times quicker.
I checked my Device Manager > USB Interfaces and I do have an Enhanced driver for USB 2.0 so I beleive the anser to the question is yes I am using 2.0. From the H320 manual I see that the Data port is USB 2.0 and the Media port is "just normal". The only way MM recongnizes that H320 is connected is if I connect it to the "Media" port. Does this mean that I am not using USB 2.0 when I already have spport for it?
- What format is your music in? Maybe the auto-convert is converting your data.
Its all mp3. Auto Convert works in the Gold version that I dont have yet.
- What other software have you used to sync to the H320? What speed did it go at?
By connecting to Data port of H320 I used direct drag and drop from explorer and that was decently fast. I think its linked to the USB 2.0 point I make above.
- Can you use the H320 as a USB hard drive and copy files to/from it via the file explorer, if so, what speed do you get from that?
- Yes I can as mentioned above.
Thanks for your detailed reply. For now I have gone back to the slow syncing as it is atleast getting the library into the player.
Any more inputs?

It sounds like you have the USA version of the H300 series. I think the Media port is used for sync'ing DRM media.
I have the International version, and it doesn't have a media port, it has a USB HOST 1.1 port, which I don't use for syncing with MM. I use the USB 2.0 connection.
The media port is USB 1.1 only, which means it runs at best 10 or 11 Mbps.
You might want to go over to http://misticriver.net to get some help on understanding what your H320 can and can't do.
