Volume Analysis Error - Can not be decoded

Hi

I have just registered for the Gold version and when I have tried to do Track Volume Leveling or Volume Level Analysis on any tracks I keep getting an Error "<path to track><filename.mp3> cannot be decoded. It is possibly due to DRM restrictions".

None of my music files have any DRM they are mostly from a CD collection and some have been purchased but without DRM restriction.

Need some assistance with this.

Cx

Do those files play in MM?

If they play then while you play one of the problematic files remeber what you get when:
Rightclick on Player->Configure Input Plugin

Hi Peke

Yes they play (some so softly they can hardly be heard - hence the vol lev).

Rightclick on Player->Configure Input Plugin = "No configuration"

Hmmm, Interesting but not very helpfull.
You better make some debug log (http://www.mediamonkey.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=69)
and add this topic to mail as reference.

Error when doing Volume Analysis

Hi,
I have isolated the circumstances of the error and can reproduce it and workaround it.

It relates to using Zone Labs ZoneAlarm (Antivirus + Firewall). ZA SmartDefense advisor alerts when MM starts and asks if the user wishes to allow MM to monitor mouse movements and keystrokes - if the behaviour is denied in Zone Alarm then MM is unable to analyse the volume levels and creates an error. Howevere, if the behaviour is allowed, volume analysis works as expected.

Why is Zone Alarm detecting that MM is monitoring mouse & keystokes?

Thanks for your help.

Chris

Why is Zone Alarm detecting that MM is monitoring mouse & keystokes?
Because MM 2.5.1 is still not added by ZA to safe list and because due MM compatibility with Multimedia keyboards needs to monitor for Player commands as only Win native apps do not gave needs for that like WMP. No need to worry. MM is Safe to allow.

And the mouse movements is when you use the tray icon controls (dragging up/down for volume and left/right for previous/next track). It's all good stuff that we enjoy using, but ZoneAlarm is a little wary of! :)

Yeah ZA does interfere with MM

Go to Program Control and give MM more Trust Level until it works

Some versions have correct trust level, althru I use ZA for some time sometimes the are little bit slow when comes to SmartAdvisor.

thank you for posting your error.

and thank you for saying what you found that is causing it.

why?

because i use zone alarm on all my computers and do not have any trouble. with it.

that i know of. unless it is causing the leveling error i get on win 9x machines.

but it would have to the firewall of zone alarm that causes it then because i only have the free firewall.

? umm. i did set up the free trial of zonealarm pro on the 9x machines. one time i wonder if that caused something to go bad in them.? now you got me wondering.? :-?
