About accents when renaming files

Post by serge »

When I rename files with Auto-Rename, all the accents do not appear in the filename: é becomes e; à becomes a and some letters are even changed : è becomes c. Also ç becomes c.

Any solution to that problem?

I'd like to see that solved too

Yeah I noticed it with some files too, but other accent characters are used in the filename again.
And I'm not sure if this got solved in any recent beta versions of MM, I hope so.

This is caused by [FilenameMappings] section in MediaMonkey.ini file. You can edit it while MediaMonkey isn't running to set the desired behaviour, e.g. if you shorten the section to look like this

[FilenameMappings]
3A=2D
2A=2D
3F=
3E=2D
3C=2D
22=27
21=
2F=2D

it will only replace some characters illegal for filenames ('?','\', ...) by some valid ones.
