Losing Library on Startup

I have been having this issue for quite a while on MediaMonkey 4 Gold on Windows7. Whenever I open the program, it behaves like I just installed the program and my library is gone, so I have to rescan every time I run. Somehow my db is getting overwritten or is not getting saved.
Would appreciate some help. Thx!

Maybe try to make a copy of your database and update your ini file to point to the copy and see if it changes in size?
To change to default location of the database:
To change the location:
Close MediaMonkey (so that it doesn't overwrite any of the changes)
Back up the .ini file. If you're not sure where to find it, see:
http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... le/View/16 (Your database should be located here)
Move the database from the default location to a new location
Add the following line to the [System] section of the .ini file: DBName=full pathfilename.DB (for example DBName=C:\Users\Alex\Documents\Databases\music.DB)
Restart MediaMonkey

Are you using WebRoot?

I am having the same issue though I am not convinced the files are getting deleted at startup. I think something else is deleting them, not MM.
Yes, I am using Webroot - is that maybe deleting them?

I just checked my file directory and sure enough all of the files in the Appdata/Roaming/MediaMonkey directory have disappeared. Yesterday I confirmed that after I exited MediaMonkey the files were all there. Before going into MediaMonkey today I checked the folder and they were gone. Webroot did run a scan this morning. I also no that a system update came in last night because I had a "System Updated" alert. I am on a machine running Win10, upgraded from Win8.

This is interesting. The appdata/roaming/mediamonkey/metadatacache and the scripts folders have a last modified date of today that matches the exact same date/time of my last webroot scan ran. Is there something in the webroot scan process deleting the files in appdata/roaming folders?

Just checked and I am using webroot. If that is the issue, how do I make it stop?
I'm going to try moving the mm.db file and adjusting the ini file. But the ini file is also on the roaming directory.

I just figured out that Webroot is the culprit deleting the MM database and other config files in the appdata/roaming/mediamonkey directory. I also figured out how to stop it. In Webroot go into Advanced Settings then click on System Optimizer on the left side of the page. Then scroll down until you see "Media Monkey - Recent Playlist and User Preferences" and uncheck it. I have tested this a couple times and when it is checked it deletes them and when it is unchecked it does not delete the MM files.

I have this problem, too, but I am not running WebRoot. My music is stored on a microSD card assigned to E:\ which always stays in the computer. It completely rebuilds the entire database on startup. I have it set to scan at startup, but it looks like nothing gets saved from previous sessions.
It also rescans and rebuilds entire database if I click off the media tree entry of my current view.
Using MediaMonkey version 4.1.14.1318 on Windows 10 (32-bit). I have not installed WebRoot. Computer is a netbook with 32gb onboard SSD, so I have very little installed.
Previous computers with earlier versions of MediaMonkey on Windows 7 (64-bit) did not have this behavior.

Note that the My Computer node always rescans (rebuilds) as it is designed to do so.

Good to know. Any idea why my entire database rebuilds from scratch every time I restart MediaMonkey?

It may be because of the hardware involved. Maybe Windows gives the SD card a new driveID on each restart.
