chromecast multizone gets out of sync with each new song

Quick issue, latest build 5.0.0.2120

Multizone chromecast works fine when you first select it. You can select the zones and it plays together. However, after each track, the chromecasts will get out of sync - ie, 1 zone will play slightly ahead of another - about 1-2 seconds off. Makes it unusable.

One potential solution is to not have multizone, but instead have mediamoney recognize "virtual speakers". (this is when you set up a virtual zone in google home consisting of multiple speakers/chromecasts). That might fix it, but I'm not sure.

Hi,
Have you tried to test LAG of your network. As Bandwidth LAG can influence that unfortunately where buffering on destination device can introduce delays.

Strange that it works differently after each track, on the beginning of each track there is a sync mechanism of muting all players until all players are "playing" and then seeking to the zero position and de-muting them at once.

I agree that it is not perfect. Using google groups would be probably better, but would work for google devices only.
And using virtual (or multiple) speakers is definetely the best practice when you need zero latency.

EDIT: Testing it after some time I see some issues that should be looked into and are related to the issues reported by you, tracked as https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=15222
