Fiio M9 SD card synchronisation problems

Hi,
I'm having some problems synching my music to an SD card for the Fiio M9 and was wondering if I could get some help.
Basically I've followed all the instructions here for a first time SD card sync (the ones that perhaps tellingly end with the process being described as a joke):

Having done that, the synchronisation works up to a point. That point being somewhere in the middle of artists beginning with "J". At that point it just stops synching, with no explanation or error messages. If I click on "auto-sync" a few times it will start syncing a few more tracks but then stop again with no explanation.
I have plenty of room on my SD card for the files, so I'm not sure what's going wrong? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
