Setting Permissions for the MediaMonkey UPnP Service
Posted by Pavle Lacarac on Nov 13, 2014

As of MediaMonkey 4.1 it's possible to enable UPnP as a service (Tools -> Options -> MediaSharing -> Install Service), so that other devices can access the library even when MediaMonkey isn't running.

In cases where multiple users share a machine, it's advisable to give all equal rights to access the MediaMonkey database (MM.DB).  To do so:

  1. Move MM.DB to a neutral location (rather than a secured user folder). e.g. "c:\MMWSettings\MM.DB".
  2. Modify the [system] section of the mediamonkey.ini file by adding a single line:
    "DBName="c:\MMWSettings\MM.DB"
