 Error Message: 'There was a problem with updating database to the newest version'
Solution
This message relates to errors in the MediaMonkey database that can cause problems
during an upgrade. These problems can usually be avoided by following these steps:

1. Enable viewing of hidden files and folders in windows explorer. This can be achieved
by opening windows explorer ("My Computer") and going to Tools -> Folder options, then
the 'View' tab, then 'Show hidden files and folders'.
2. Find the file MM.DB and delete it. (For the file location see the end of this article)
3. Install the version of MediaMonkey that was previously working from
http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/index.php?_m=downloads&_a=view&parentcategoryid=2&nav=0
and run the program. Go to File -> Maintain Library, ensure that "Compact database" is checked, then hit OK.
(For later versions of MediaMonkey you will want to check "Optimize database" or "Optimize database (complete)".)
4. Go to C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\ and delete the "Scripts" folder.
5. Install the latest version of MediaMonkey and start it.

If you're still receiving database errors at this point, it means your database is corrupt
and you'll need to create a new one. You can also follow these steps if you don't mind creating
a new database (this means you'll have to rescan your music into MediaMonkey, and and that
various features of your library such as playlists and playcounts will be gone). To start with a new
database follow these steps:

1. Enable viewing of hidden files and folders in windows explorer. This can be achieved by opening
windows explorer ("My Computer") and going to Tools -> Folder options, then the 'View' tab, then
'Show hidden files and folders'.
2. Find the file MM.DB and delete it.
3. Find the file MediaMonkey.mdb and rename the file to mediamonkey99.mdb
4. Go to C:\Program Files\MediaMonkey\ and delete the "Scripts" folder.
5. Install MediaMonkey and run it.
