When a USB Mass Storage device is plugged in, MediaMonkey's WMDM.dll
(Windows Media Device) plug-in will automatically recognize it as a portable
audio device. This will cause synchronization problems if your device
is an iPod (which needs to use the iPod plugin to sync correctly). It
may also be unwanted, if your device is really a standard generic USB
Mass Storage device, in which case you may prefer to use the Generic
Audio/Device Plugin.
If you wish to stop this from occuring:
1) For an iPod, make sure that only a single iPod is plugged in. With
current versions of the plugin, a second iPod will not be recognized by
MediaMonkey if the first one is still plugged in.
2) For other devices (or if the problem persists with your iPod), go to
Tools | Options | Portable/Audio Devices and uncheck any devices that
you want MediaMonkey to ignore.
If you wish to then configure the device to use the Generic USB Mass
Storage Device plug-in, click on that plugin and then 'Configure', and
on the Device Configuration Tab, click 'Find Device'. In the future,
the device will be recognized by this plug-in.
