I've received a "7-day Notification of Google Play Developer Terms Violation" re. "Potential violation of the Impersonation or Deceptive behavior and/or intellectual property provisions of the Content Policy." for com.ventismedia.android.mediamonkeybeta. Having unnecessarily gone through this process for com.ventismedia.android.mediamonkeybeta.addon.contacts.ringtone , I'm very concerned about how to proceed since when that happened and even after it was all over, I still had no idea what violation we were being accused of. If MediaMonkey Beta is removed, though, thousands of users will be inconvenienced, financial losses will result, bad PR will result for both Ventis Media, Inc. and Google. So PLEASE, can someone contact me and explain to me what the 'potential violation' is, so that I can effectively explain to the Google Play team why the accusation is a mistake? Thank you. -Russell S Ventis Media, Inc., makers of MediaMonkey www.mediamonkey.com This chat is no longer off the record [2015/01/28] Jeff J - 1:59 PM Hi Russel, thanks for contacting Google Play Developer Support! Please give me a moment while I review your issue. me - 1:59 PM Hey Jeff. Thank god for a human being :-) Jeff J - 2:00 PM We understand your concern about Google Play policies. Unfortunately, we can't comment on content policy or Google Play terms of service. Please refer to the original notification for more information. For more information about Google Play policy, check out our new Google Play Apps Policy Center at http://play.google.com/policy me - 2:01 PM I saw the notification. But I just want to know what information you need from me. Do you need proof that Ventis is the owner of MediaMonkey? Proof that I russell samuels work for ventis? Is it an issue with code IP? A license issue e.g. GPL code sharing? Jeff J - 2:01 PM As I'm not a member of the policy team, I can't provide that information. Please refer to the original notification. Did you have any other questions for me today? me - 2:03 PM Yes. Can you put me in touch with someone who can explain the issue? MediaMonkey is downloaded by 10k users per day. We're a well known app. It'll be embarrasing for us and for Google if it's removed. Jeff J - 2:03 PM We do not have a support channel for policy questions at this time. The only information we provide is in the notification and on our policy help center. I'm sorry that I can't be of assistance with this issue. Did you have any other questions about the developer console I can help with? me - 2:05 PM Not really. I would just suggest that you let the Google Play team leads know that this process is opaque, arbitrary, and I'm pretty certain, doesn't mesh with Google's 'don't be evil' philosophy. It's incredible actually. Jeff J - 2:06 PM I'll definitely pass your feedback along. me - 2:07 PM Also, you have my contact information. I urge you to have someone contact me. This is a broken process. Jeff J - 2:08 PM I apologize again that I can't be any assistance with the issue. I'll pass your feedback along to our team leads. Have a great day, Russell.
