MediaMonkey 2.5 Online Help

Appearance Configuration & Skinning

From the main menu, click Tools > Options > Appearance. On the configuration panel you can set several options:

User-friendly Masks

Disabling this option causes masks to appear as they used to in Songs-DB. Recommended for advanced users only.

Ignore Prefixes When Sorting by Artist

This causes MediaMonkey to ignore prefixes when sorting by Artist.  For instance, if 'The' is set to be ignored, then 'The Beatles' and 'Beatles' will appear directly adjacent to one another.

Rename Custom Field Headings

This allows you to change the headings that identify each of the custom fields so that a user defined heading appears instead of 'Custom 1'.

Transparency Settings

If you wish to display the Now Playing or Equalizer windows semi-transparently, you may configure this via transparency settings.

Tree Configuration

Several aspects of the tree's layout are configurable:

Show 'All' in Location nodes

Enabling causes an 'All' node to appear in Location nodes, displaying all Tracks in a folder and all of its subfolders. The node can be configured to appear as the first (top) or last (bottom) entry in any node.

Show 'All' in My Computer nodes

Enabling, causes an 'All' node to appear in My Computer nodes, diplaying all Tracks in a folder and all of its subfolders. The node can be configured to appear as the first (top) or last (bottom) entry in any node.

Show .m3u Playlists in My Computer nodes

If enabled, .m3u files will appear directly within My Computer nodes for editing.

Show Net Radio Node

If enabled, the Net Radio node appears in the tree so that radio stations can be browsed.

Show Web Nodes

If enabled, web nodes used for metadata lookup and/or music purchases will appear.

Player Skin

Select the skin that you wish to use with MediaMonkey. If you wish to add a new skin, simply add it to the /Program Files/MediaMonkey/Skins directory.

Note: MediaMonkey skins and icons can be customized. If you have some graphics expertise and wish to pursue this, see Customizing Skins and Icons .

Override Skin theme with Windows System theme

This option causes the standard Windows theme to be used instead of the theme included with the chosen MediaMonkey skin. This is useful if you prefer the standard look of your Windows theme, or if you have a slow system and wish to improve performance slightly.

Note: Enabling this removes of the 'Minimize to tray' and 'Minimize to Now Playing' buttons in the upper right corner of MediaMonkey.

Override Skin Backgrounds

You can override the standard Tree, Tracklist, or Now Playing backgrounds included with a particular skin with customized backgrounds of your choice. The scroll checkbox controls whether the background scolls or not when scrolling through a list.
