MediaMonkey 2.5 Online Help

Tag & Playlist Configuration

From the main menu, click Tools > Options > Library > Tags & Playlists.

Tag Configuration

ID3 Tag Version

You are given the option of choosing what version of ID3 tags to write for MP3 files: v1, v2, or both. Note that this setting has no impact on which tags are read to populate the Library--MediaMonkey reads ID3v2 tags, and any missing information is obtained from ID3v1 tags. See About Properties for information regarding which properties are stored using each tag version.

ID3V2 Text Encoding

This allows you to use unicode or ascii in id3v2 tags. If you have Tracks with non-English characters, you'll want to use Unicode, however, some players may have trouble reading Unicode tags.

Update Tags Immediately After Editing Properties

Causes Tags to be updated immediately, as soon as changes to Track properties are made.

Modify Timestamp when Updating Tags

This causes MediaMonkey to update the Track timestamp whenever a tag is updated. This should be enabled so that other applications reading the file are aware that a change has been made.

Playlist Configuration

Use Unicode (UTF-8 encoding) for .m3u playlists

This causes MediaMonkey to save .m3u files in a format that preserves non-English characters. Note that some players may not support unicode .m3u playlists.

Create Playlists of Tracks Newly Added to the Library

This option is useful if you wish to automatically create Playlists consisting of newly added Tracks to your library. The main use of this is if you wish to copy playlists of newly added Tracks to a portable device.

Warn When Duplicate Tracks are Added

If enabled, a warning is provided whenever duplicate Tracks are added to a playlist.
