its also useful for caching files that are on removable or network locations that may not always be connected.

But again someone started to use MediaMonkey due the VirtualCD ;) This is one of best and unique features that can be used by any owner of CDs especially as it caches AudioCD tracks to HDD without breaking Copyright as Cached Files are Referenced to actual bought CD.

For many people it isn't useful, not everyone cares about having a physical inventory of their CDs. To each their own.

I believe it is meant as a means of cataloging the physical CD that you own. Think of it as an inventory system.

Hmmm... I don't understand why you would have a duplicate really. I usually just rip CDs and that's it. I guess I don't understand why this feature is useful.... :roll: sorry! :oops:

From the MM help:
If you want to rip Tracks from CDs and also catalog your physical CDs, don't take the approach of adding the CDs to the Library and then ripping them as this will result in duplicate entries. The Track will appear once for the CD version of the Track and a second time for the ripped version. To avoid this, use the Virtual CD:
