well actually you could do the following
check online say amazon, get all the album versions IE ABBA GOLD http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABBA_Gold: ... k_listings
either
give user to decide what version of said album they wish to source track data from - IE world wide except Australasia or both post 2008
or give the user the name of both all tracks with that track# ie with the abba gold CD (excluding specials and bonuses) track 10 is the same on both, track 6 is different so when user sees track#10 missing they are given a choice to select S.O.S since that is common to all albums if track 6 they are given the choice of "Super Trouper" from the non Australasian release or "Ring Ring" from from current World wide release (excluding the special edition unless its idenified in tag, in witch case there would not be a duplicate album)

There's this script: [FindThe] v0.5 (Missing/Extra Tracks+Small Albums) [MM2+3]

It's supposed to tell you what's missing... I think. Honestly never used it myself, but I recalled seeing it way back when, when I read this thread. It is quite old though, so while it has been updated for MM3, it may not function correctly with the latest version(s).

That would still not account for the fact that some albums have multiple versions with differing amounts of tracks.

My Tagging inconsistencies script, link in signature, can find albums that is incomplete, but the logic is based on tracknr's, so it won't find incomplete albums if the last track is missing, just as Lowlander says. To get info about which actual tracks are missing, you need to search for the album manually and figure it out yourself.

I'm not sure, maybe MagicNodes can, but any script will fail to show albums missing the last track(s) as they don't know how many tracks the album is supposed to have.
