I've added an entry in Mantis: http://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=11878

However I also suggest making sure that the files aren't read-only.

I did try setting the next song on my playlist to read-only. Then minimized MMW to taskbar (not little popup on the right). When the some came up i hovered over MMW and the clicked the *+. MMW did popup with the message but it came to the foreground with the message on top.

Using Win7 pro (newest updates) and MMW 1692
Thanks for the info. Even though it comes to the top, can you intentionally ignore it and wait for another read-only song to start playing, and then rate it, as well (without answering the read-only popup messages)? And then try switching back into MM, still without answering the popups.

What happens when more than one read-only popup accumulates without being answered? What happens when you try to switch back into MM's window without answering the popups?

I'm curious if it'll hang the program, requiring a force-close.

For reference, I'm on 1692, as well.

Thanks for the tip -- however, I like MM's ability to clean up physical file tags/info. I guess you could say it's a case of wanting to have cake and eat it :)

For now, I just manually went through all of the music folders on my computer and mass-edited their properties, removing all read-only attributes. Not an ideal solution, but I guess it's the best I've got for now.

In either case, this should probably be reported as a bug -- it looks like MM chokes pretty hard if a read-only warning box doesn't get answered right away, fallen to the bottom of the stack while other actions pile on top of it.

Read-only Crashing Madness

Can we get some help on this read-only madness?

With MM playing in the background, I'll suddenly want to rate a song that's playing. Rather than switch to MM, I hover my mouse over MM's taskbar icon and upvote a rating right. What happens, however, is that, unbeknownst to me, MM pops up a warning that the file is "read-only" -- but it doesn't pop to the top of the screen, and thus, I don't even realize it's there.

When I eventually go back into MM, it's hung frozen. I finally figured out that there's a "read-only" warning box popped up at the bottom of my window pile, but when I try to answer it, it's now hung, too. I'd guess this is on account of star-rating multiple songs before I eventually switch back to MM -- it must be getting tripped on consecutive, unanswered read-only boxes.

I then have to force-close MM entirely and start again.

This happens frequently. Can this be fixed? Or is there a way to disable these read-only warnings entirely?
