Hmmm - good suggestion. It does seem to be a network issue - works fine with a local DB file.

I thought it might be a firewall issue (I use ZoneAlarm) but shut it down and no change.

I learned a couple of years ago to not run MM on 2 computers on the network at the same time - the usual symptom is that it slows the one on the client end down to a crawl and maybe other problems too, but I'm careful to not do that now.

Try to move the database locally and see if issues persist. It could rule out network being an issue.

Do you have multiple MediaMonkey's access the same database file? That could be a problem too.

Yes, several times.

Another clue - it's apparently not able to write to a config file somewhere:
- every time on startup I get the Win 7 system message "do you want to allow this program to make changes to your computer?" (Shouldn't do that except after installation or upgrade)
- I get this error message every couple of minutes or so (can't upload screenshot images to posts here?)
"There was a problem querying the database: Error executing SQL statement "UPDATE Views SET Name=?", View=?, WHERE ID=?": unable to open database file (14,14)"
This machine is streaming the DB file over the network but I have verified that the DB file is available and writable - when I make any updates to the music library the DB file on the network server is updated accordingly.
- MM won't shut down properly - hit the red X, or File->exit, and ... nothing. Have to force down.

This only started after the reinstall.

Any insights appreciated...

Did you restart the PC yet? I would try that.

Maybe this helps: http://www.mediamonkey.com/support/inde ... o-defaults

Major clue, may not be an installation issue - if after I click on a column header I hit the ESC key it clears it - behaves normally after that...

MM installation corrupted - UI columns erratic

Something is BAD wrong with my MM installation - tried a full ininstall/reinstall and no change.

The UI on my main window is acting bizarre - when I click on the column headers to sort (album, date, etc) it gets into some sort of edit mode, where instead of doing the sort function it wants to move it. I.e. I click on a column header, then click on another and it moves the first one to the left of the 2nd. Or, I click to set a user rating on an individual track, and instead it moves the previously clicked column to the left of the user track column. Many other inexplicable behaviors liek this - why didn't the reinstall work?

And - I have MM running on 2 machines streaming on the netowrk - this is only happening on 1.

Any assistance MUCH appreciated...!!!
