Odd use case for person that reviews 1,000's of albums.
I was moving to MM specifically because I was looking for a safe way to store my ratings on all file types.
I was just in the middle of having my D drive contain my high quality files and converting all my files to 320 mp3's on my e drive just so I could have the ratings embedded into the file and I don't have to worry about winamp or windows media player both unsupported losing my 25,000 ratings.
So with this odd use case my question is: Instead of moving everything to mp3 can I get into the MM db in case I want to do something else in 10 years.
Or should I continue having an mp3 copy of everything if ratings are that important to me
I have actually been developing database applications since 1996 and VB3 so I am certainly technically able to do so.
So would you be able to tell me what I can use to read the db natively. I have only been in the microsoft stack for most of my 25 years as a developer so not sure what this generic .db is.
What would people suggest I do? D drive with highest quality files and e Drive with mp3s and store ratings in file or trust MM with my ratings and key them all in from winamp / windows media player
