The Zune can now be sync'ed with MM using a work-around. I have written a fairly extensive guide on how to do so - see here.

From Wikipedia:
802.11b/g built-in Wi-Fi
(this was the in the list of specifications). So it is wireless to pc compatible. So far, the only 'hack' to get around the 3-day sharing is to rename an mp3 with a jpg extension since picture transfer is unrestricted. Of course, then you can't listen to the song on your device- not exactly optimal.

Like I said, there is a zune-linux team working on utilizing the zune's full potential, but they haven't got anything released. Here's to hoping!

oh, there must be some sort of hack that you could do to allow it to do those things.

1. Is zune even 802.11g WiFi? If not then you can expect it to not be able to do wireless to pc.

2. There gotta be something (a hack?) to stop the three day thing, i guess they are really trying to stop illegal use of songs.

3. Stuuppiiiddd

whats so crippled about the wireless?
1. You can't transfer wirelessly from PC to zune.
2. Zune to zune wireless transfers are only unrestricted for picture files. Any music sent can only be listened to 3 times or for 3 days... whichever comes first.
3. The wireless can't be used for anything else besides music or picture transfer. (no internet browsing, wireless downloads, etc)

That being said, its still a fantastic piece of hardware. If the folks over at zune-linux ever get linux running on the zune so that the full potential of the device can be used, or if mediamonkey supported music transfer to the zune, I'd probably buy one in a heartbeat.

I don't care what anyone says... the zune has the nicest-looking GUI of any portable player I've ever seen. Also, if the wireless wasn't so crippled everyone would be talking about what a great piece of technology it was.

Nor is the Zune compatible with Microsofts PlayForSure technology. These devices are fashion devices (not technology devices) and as such don't follow common sense.

you know whats funny, the software that comes with the zune isn't vista compatible! hahahahahahaha!:lol: How stupid can micro$oft get

by Lowlander » Mon Mar 05, 2007 11:12 pm

Not likely as Microsoft has the Zune closed.
