Well, I tried Rebuilding the Database and it didn't work....... Can you think of any way that I can keep the sync that I have now, or at least a way to resync using the converted files? (It The only thing that I can think of would be to copy the converted files off of my ipod and move them onto another hard drive. Then just sync those files onto my ipod. However, I'm not sure how I would add new tracks and when I rate a song (or play one) on my ipod, I would really like it to update the information on my hard drive automatically.
Another option that I think might work in theory is:
1. find an 500gb external harddrive and resync all of my music to it (after I tell MediaMonkey it is a Mass Storage Device). (That way, anything that is changed on the hard drive, will be changed on my higher bitrate songs.)
2. Backup both the converted songs, and my MediaMonkey DB. That way, if anything were to happen to my harddrive, or MediaMonkey, I would have a backup.
3. Sync my external harddrive to my ipod. This would take a fraction of the time because the files are already converted.
4. Then after I use my ipod for a bit, I can sync it to my external again.
5. Then I can sync my external to my harddrive.
6. Then hopefully, all updates from my ipod would be synced to my main harddrive.
Please let me know if you think that this will work. Syncing directly to my ipod is a great option, but I just need something more secure. (It takes hundreds of hours to convert my music....) I'm just not sure if I can sync my ipod to a "Mass Storage Device" AKA an external harddrive.
Thanks again nohitter151, you have been a HUGE help! If you or anyone else can come up with any other Ideas, I would love to hear them. Thanks again, again!
UPDATE:
Tried reducing the amount of songs to about 38,000 and when I first started it up, it showed nothing. Then I did a reset (Held center and menu) and it worked!!!! (Sort of) I still can’t shuffle all of my songs, and the one playlist that I synced doesn’t show up, and the ipod says that I have about 44,000 songs on it… But I can play a whole lot of songs now!!!!!!!!!
I would still like a more secure way to sync my music, (ideally without having to reset my ipod after every sync). so if the above mentioned plan seems like it would work, please let me know. I don’t know why my ipod says that I have so many more songs than I do. You are probably right, it probably corrupted my database on my ipod…
If I use the method above (and it works) I guess that I could sync with RockBox… I could also have a low bitrate version of all my music…. Let me know what you think. Thanks again!!!!
Also, on a side note. How do I change my registry to do a dual boot with RockBox and my orig ipod firmware? I copy and pasted part of the link that nohitter kindly sent me.
2) If you plan on using both Rockbox and the Apple firmware, you'll need to
sync your iPod with the iPod plugin. By default, syncing .m3u playlists
with the iPod plugin is disabled.
MediaMonkey 2.5.5 and higher can get around this limitation
through a small change to the registry:
For MediaMonkey 3.x.x:
1) Create a DWORD value:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER/Software/MediaMonkey/Device/iPod/
{Serial number here}/EnableM3UConfiguration
2) Set the value to '1'
After making this change, the plug-in will allow you to enable
the 'Copy Playlists' option which will cause .m3u playlists to
sync to the iPod.
