See this thread containing a link to a beta .dll that works. It still has some minor bugs but it works for me.

PS: Can someone sticky this thread? The one in the link above replaces it, no? Thanks

Has there been any progress supporting the 3.0 firmware in MM? I've found a bug item by Randy but without showing any updates...

Best regards,
Andreas

I don't think Copy Trans Manager will do anything to your tags unless you ask it to - they seems to be serious about creating a user friendly alternative to itunes that's lightweight and doesn't mess with your data. I'd try it on a couple of albums and verify but I imagine you'll be pleased.

Here's a bit of good news:
The new version of Copy Trans Manager released yesterday allows for music and video transfer to and from iphones running 3.0! It's free and it works great!

Phew, it least it wasn't just me..... sorry to hear you had all the hassle though! :(

I'll take a look at copy trans manager in the interim.

Will it start writing to all my MM files though? i don't want it messing with tags and the suchlike....... copy and go would be good. :P

Next problem. I sync fine, then deleted the CDB file as per the instructions, but upon starting iTunes i get:

"iTunes cannot read the contents of the iPhone "My iPhone".
Goto the summary tab in iPhone preferences and click restore to restore this phone to factory settings."

Basically i bricked the thing! :(

Luckily, iPhone Browser takes a backup of the deleted file, so i was able to put it back in the correct location, restart iTunes and all was okay again.

But i'm now left with shed loads of music on my phone that i can't do anything with.

Please HELP!

Got a little further, found the latest d_iPhone.dll from another OS3.0 thread which has now started my sync.

Can I ask what version of MM and other software you are using please?

I'm using iTunes 8.2 (and have cleared all music out within iTunes and done a sync( and confirmed this on the iphone as having no music))
I have followed the guide to iPod sync on here: http://www.mediamonkey.com/wiki/index.p ... _ipod_sync

But when I sync on just one album, I get the dreaded "The iPhone/iPod firmware is not compatible with this version of MediaMonkey. You'll be able to view the contents of the device, but will not be able to write to it."

iPhone 3G running OS3.0
Meda Monkey 3.1.0.1256

What am I doing wrong please? :-?

Yep, the information posted from dbdog worked for a full sync as well. I cleared out the iTunes synced data, synced with MM and removed that one file - popped open iTunes and it fixed up the library with all music/podcasts/playlists from MM. The only oddity at the moment seems to be some of my album art is messed up - but I'll deal with that one for the time being.

So - for those of us with jailbroken devices, this will make a decent stop-gap until full support is ready.

This appears to work, although it made everything that had previously been synced by itunes fall under the "Other" category. I'll try a reset of all of the ipod data and a full sync with MM. This might make a decent workaround for now.

In the right hand pane, delete the iTunesCDB file (NOT the iTunesDB file). 5. Start up iTunes and allow it to find your iPod. If you look in the music section, you should see all the files synced using foo_dop. 6. Close iTunes. 7. You must carry out steps 3-6 whenever adding/removing songs with foo_dop

(While reading just replace "foo_dop" by "ml_ipod" and "foobar2000" by "winamp"...

So by the looks of it both Foobar and Winamp can sync using this awkward method. Maybe MediaMonkey can work this way too. I'll try it tomorrow.

i hate iTunes but looks like MM doesn't really do away with it unless you don't mind waiting for it to support current iPods.

iPod Touch 2nd gen + 3.0 - finally I can bluetooth into the head unit in my car....but only if I use iTunes....damn!

At least I only have to use it for syncing.

Come on folks. World domination can't be achieved if you're months behind...:)

iTunes could see the MM-synced album, but it was greyed out. I could not sync any songs in iTunes.
So I did an "erase and sync" in iTunes, because it complained that the library was synced with another iTunes. The album on the iPhone was gone now (the one which was synced with MM yesterday)

Then I synced 1 album with iTunes, it showed up in the iPhone
I opened MM, but the album on the iPhone was not visible in MM :(
I synced a few albums with a few songs/album to iPhone, in MM it looks ok, but not visible on iPhone itself
I synced again with iTunes, nothing happens, only album synced with iTunes is visible on iPhone.
so, MM and iTunes do not see each others songs, only their own synced songs on the iPhone.

It looks like MM is syncing to a different DB on the iPhone?

oh btw: my iPhone is now jailbroken, If you need any files or DB for analyzing i can deliver it

Mybe this can also be done btw through iPhonebrowser: http://code.google.com/p/iphonebrowser/downloads/list
