First thanks for some very useful scripts.

I just wanted to post that I too experienced the problem posted on the previous pages of "Just List Albums" giving an empty text file while "Just List Artists" worked fine
A bit of debugging showed that itm Album ID was always -1 (which then stops further processing) even though other information from the selected tracks was working fine
This happens when you are in the "My Computer" section at the bottom of the MM tree
It works fine if I select the tracks in the higher parts of the tree (including Location) and then I get the expected output

Hey there,
I may be a little late to this party but I've been looking for a script to give me a simple album list. I've installed Just List Albums and the standard options I see are Artist and Album, with a track number after that. How do I alter that to show simply Artist - Album - Date (of album release)?
Second question - is the report capable of being sorted by any category?
Apologies, I'm not a techie but I can update simple language, I'm sure this must be customisable to some extent.

The script doesn't pull out all albums in the system, it pulls out the albums of all of the tracks in the main window, or the tracks which are selected. So if you sort the tracks in the main window by the album order that you're interested in, the script should pick up the albums in that order.

trix, thanks for your reply. i re-installed the script and it is working again however i still can't make any sense of the order. when you say "sort the tracks in the list prior to running the report" where is the list in MM? i can't see any window that displays just a list of artists and albums in MM. am i supposed to create a playlist first? i am just opening MM to all my music and running the report to get the list of just artists/albums and there is a lot of stuff out of order in the txt list.

also, is there a way to get compilations to all display together alphabetically by album title?

i was reading through the thread and trying to figure some of this out and was playing with the different fields (album mask, compilation mask, etc). i deleted the info for album mask and now i cant get it to work. i typed in: <Artist> - <Album> (<Tot>/<Max>) which is what i thought was in there before. is there something else to type in to get back to the "default" that was there when i first used the report? sorry i dont know a lot about this stuff.

PS Was also wondering how to do the list without the number of tracks afterward?

hello trixmoto and everyone! i am a newb to MM and have been searching forever to find a way to export a list of artists and albums (without all the tracks). i was ecstatic to find JustListAlbums! i downloaded it and just exported my first list and have a couple questions. some artists/albums seem out of alphabetical order and compilations (various artists) seem to be peppered throughout the list. is there an easy way for an amateur like me to clean this up a bit? i'm not sure why some are out of place and was hoping to group all the comps together for easy reference. here's some sample from my list:

My Album mask is <album>Delimiter<Tot> . I am currently using a "\" as the Delimiter. I wish to use a TAB. My problem is I do not know (yet) what symbol or characters to use as the TAB delimiter. If I use a keyboard TAB, that action just moves the cursor to the next mask box. When I open the resulting JustListAlbums.vbs text file in Excel, I have to indicate that the delimiter is "\". That works fine.

I don't do anything in the script, other than I've modified the mask to get what I want. I'm talking about importing into Excel after creating and saving a .txt file. Is that what you are talking about?

Thanks for the response. How did you insert a tab into the Just List Albums album mask? When I inset a keyboard tab, it just goes to next mask box. Using ALT+9, the resulting text file has a "?" mark in the delimiter position.
