Hello, that fixed the problem for a short time. But it keeps appearing. Don't others with Android 10 have the problem?
Well, funnily enough, when I did my Factory Reset, Samsung Music wasn't automatically installed.

I did eventually reinstall Samsung Music, and noticed that constant library scanning started again; although not to any noticeable extent as before. I removed it again and although there's still some longish scans, I've not had any noticeable problems.

So perhaps it is another music app on your phone causing the issue - although it could very well not be, I'm not entirely sure if Samsung Music is even doing it on mine.

However: I have figured one thing out that may be of use to you if you're trying to initiate a Sync but can't due to scanning:

Add a widget to your homepage for Mediamonkey - Widgets > Mediamonkey > Synchronisation.

When you want to Sync, but can't, 'force close' Mediamonkey and then click the Synchronisation widget. Every time, the sync process starts without fail for me.

If syncing's your main issue with scanning, I hope this will be of use to you!

I seem to have perhaps solved my own problem on this one. I did a Factory Reset on my phone, without transferring apps from my old phone via Samsung Switch; this appears to have solved the problem. What I am (perhaps wrongly) assuming is that when Samsung transferred old App Data from Mediamonkey, it did so with Synchronisation details for the SD Card, that, inevitably, had a different ID/number when it was in the S8 than it did in the S10.

There was one instance of a particularly long sync, curiously, this was solved simply by closing Mediamonkey (albeit, via 'Force Stop') and initiating a Sync from the available Mediamonkey widget, which began the sync straight away. Everything is showing up in 'Folder View' as expected.

I'm currently syncing the last 6000 files of about 160,000 without any issue.

I can't thank you enough for the software and your continued support. Very much appreciated.

What do you mean by "enforcing" both media storage options in Android settings? Do I have to change a setting? If yes, which? Or does the app get an update?

I'm also on Android 10 now, whereas my S8 remained on Android 9 and doesn't have the problem.

The scanning does seem to be happening an awful lot - so much so that it effects bluetooth playback. The sound kept cutting out (and the Mediamonkey library still 'scanning'), but was immediately fixed by "force stopping" both media storage options in the Android settings.

Hi,
I added this as https://www.ventismedia.com/mantis/view.php?id=16233 can you please confirm that I got it right?

I also wonder your S10+ is much faster phone than mine Moto X4 and for me Scanning 6k after full sync of tracks takes <1h and few minutes on Sync Updates.

I wonder what would ⋮ -> About MediaMonkey -> Send logs (Write LOG Id here) tell us why it is taking so long?

Update: it most definitely is the Android Media Scanner.

If I "force stop" either "Media Storage" for an Internal Sync or "Media Storage Sec" for External Sync, the scanning stops and the Wifi sync begins.

Could it have anything to do with me having used Samsung Smart Switch to transfer data/apps from my S8 to my S10+?

Long Library Scanning after Wifi Sync [#16233 ]

Hello there,

I have the latest version of MMW - and - I believe - the latest beta of MMA (1.3.7.0902).

I've just got myself a new Samsung Galaxy S10+ (512GB). I have an SD Card attached too, and I'm syncing to both the Internal and External folders.

Wifi Sync is working fine, but I notice that after a Wifi Sync (one containing numerous files), the scanner runs off for a very long time. Is this normal? (That is, that the media scanner runs after a Wifi Sync?). I don't seem to recall it happening on my Galaxy S8 - certainly not for any length of time.

I've noticed that although the recently synced tracks appear in Album/Artist/Track view, etc, they do NOT appear in "Folder View" under 'Library'. I assume this is what the scanner is trying to do - but the number of tracks for each do not seem to update, nor do the folders containing the recently synced tracks appear.

The scanning did not cease overnight in one case, so I uninstalled Mediamonkey from the phone, deleted the profiles off MMW for the device and started again from scratch this morning. A couple of syncs worked fine, but now it's back to the endless folder scan after syncing 12000 tracks to the SD Card.

It wouldn't really be too big a problem, except that I of course can't sync because I get the "Sync is waiting for background operations to complete" or "Connecting to Wifi" messages because it continues to scan.

I hope I've provided enough information to help you understand the problem.

Many thanks, as always.
