Re: Repeated errors after uninstalled DJ extension

If that's so, I'm not sure what to change. There is no reference to any external selection plugin in the Auto-DJ options. The settings are all correct: Auto-DJ is off (which I want right now), the selector is Playlist, the playlist is the right one that I've been using for a couple of years.

I had a problem with scrobbling, too. I uninstalled Last.fm Scrobbler and tried reinstalling and had an error thrown from that. I also had a problem earlier, installing Update Plays.

So I uninstalled everything else, and reinstalled the three I want: the Scrobbler, Last.fm Importer Python, and Update Plays. All three installed correctly and are working. But the ScrobblerDJ-related errors continue as described. I'm also asking for help at that plugin's topic.

Some piece of software has set a hook for ScrobblerDJ and it didn't get unhooked.

Probably you get the error because you need to change your auto-dj settings?

Repeated errors after uninstalled DJ extension

I had the ScrobblerDJ extenstion installed, but ended up not liking it and uninstalled it.

Ever since then, I get an error box thrown up every time a track starts playing:

Code: Select all

  File [user]\AppData\Roaming\Mediamonkey\Scripts\ScrobblerDJ.vbs cannot be opened:
  The file is unavailable...
   [cancel] [retry] [ignore] [ignore all]
If cancel:

Code: Select all

  Error happened during script initialization:
  Action was cancelled by user.
  [ok]
If ignore:

Code: Select all

Error #13 - Microsoft VBScript runtime error
  Type mismatch: 'ScrobblerDJ'
  File: "[user]]\AppData\Roaming\Mediamonkey\Scripts\ScrobblerDJ.vbs", Line: 1, Column: 0
  [ok]
and after OK:

Code: Select all

  Error happened during script initialization:
  Type mismatch: 'ScrobblerDJ'
  [ok]
If I don't clear the first box before the next track starts, then the program get stuck: clicks on the error box no longer work to clear the error box, and the only actions I can take in the program are to minimize and maximize the window. I had to kill it from Task Manager.

If I run MM 4.0 on the same profile, I do not get this error. I uinstalled from 4.1; I don't remember if the installation was under 4.0 or 4.1.

In the MM4.1 program scripts.ini, there is no reference to this script -- and shouldn't be, because it was installed for current-user only.
In the profile scripts.ini, there is no reference to the script.

The real problem here is that the error handling for a script problem is naive and worthless. It really is not adequate to put out a program that supports user-scripting and then throw up your hands like a ninny when an error happens in the script. I know error-handling is not easy, but it can be done right. This is not right.

But more immediately, there is something broken in 4.1, somehow, that keeps it looking for this script by name even tho the script is gone. I can't find any reference to "ScrobblerDJ" in any of the files (after using a binary-file search tool) in the MM4.1 program folder, in my profile folder, or in the MM registry tree.
