Finally, after 15 years my music collection is digitized and organized. I started off with Windows Media Player, migrated to MusicMatch and in 2010, finally settled on MediaMonkey. There is no way it would have been possible without MMW. Despite 3 database corruptions, 5 Operating Systems, 4 different computers, and several machine rebuilds, the music has remained in tack and organized. I would like to thank the countless MediaMonkey Forum users, the MM staff, and especially LowLander, Pavle, and Peke. Without their support, it never would have been possible. From my Newbie questions to advanced programming insights, they've been able to support me. Fantastic work guys!
So, here's a run down of my current collection (yes, I am still adding):
Totals:
Artists: 29,168
Albums: 69,947
Genres: 15
Tracks: 519,481
Length (h:mm:ss) 36,387:29:11
File size: 3.58 TB
Backups:
I have the collection stored in three backups:
Local (same computer)
On-Site: Off computer but in same building (Synology NAS)
Off-Site: Portable Hard Drives
Everything is organized by:
<Genre>\<Artist@1>\$Left($First(<Artist>)\<Album>\, 85)\<Track#:2> - $RIGHT(<Title>, 100)
It took me several reorgs to finally settle on the above.
This is what I've done to every song:
Album cover, if there is one, is tagged within the file
All fields except, Title, Artist, Album, Album Artist, genre and track# are empty. Classical includes Conductor and Composer.
All specials characters are removed. So, no accents, &, #.
Artist and Album Artist match on all songs
All songs are spell checked
First letter of all words are capitalized.
Anyway, just really stoked that I'm finally all caught up and can now just enjoy the music.
